ReNo Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Well I try Honesty is the best policy though - I hope my admittedly critical but 100% sincere comments were of somewhat more use than "looks awesome". Quote
curman Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 look at reno, saying something like a big shot would. Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 That is goddamn awsome. Don't forget to post a download link when it's done. Quote
hessi Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 What the hell. I just went to bed and when I woke up, I saw about 20 replies on my thread. ReNo, I read your critics and I have the same opinion as you. A lot of newbies say that, I know, but it is still a work in progress. This overgrown setting is exactly my intention for the garden and the whole area. The problem will be to not loose the performance. I started a jungleproject, which I had to cancel because the Source engine was fucked up with all this Alpha and Alphatesting stuff. To get this thing working, I will try to reduce all the plants to a few polyplanes and combine them in a big model. Anyway, gotta go to work now. Quote
PhilipK Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 indeed looking very, very good. i love that you use so much custom material Quote
MrH2o Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Looks like a photograph but maybe thats cause our little fried "Mr Photoshop sharpening filter" have been there. great work nontheless Quote
⌐■_■ Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 The pics certainly hold alot of atmosphere and yes, the foiliage is indeed working in your favor sir. When I saw the last pic I thaught it might just perfectly fit in a hl2 zombiemod. My advice 2 u is to hold a close eye to the balance (detailwise). Succes Quote
RA7 Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 That 3rd screenshot is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Yup, good atmosphere there. Good job. Quote
Captain P Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 First two shots still looked similar to some of the recent CSS maps, but especially the last shot really does it. Adding some more trees might improve the scene somewhat though, and having a forest in your 3D skybox would be great. Reminds me of some sort of fantasy setting, like a good place to live or such. Definitely looks good. Keep up the work man! Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Nice work so far. The only crits that i have is skybox and lighting. Some work here and the map will look even nicer. And in the first pic the stone texture in the background is mirrored. Quote
RD Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 good job so far hessi. It looks like france, is it? Quote
