kleinluka Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 i would not want to work for valve. i would think they could not pay you as much as a regular game company like ubisoft regular game company? isn't valve a regular game company? Quote
jayrabbit Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 if you say so, i am wainting for the day they will knock on my door  heh, just mean you might get noticed as this is probably the most detailed custom map project out there . Valve is probably going to see this somehow but i'm not saying they will come and get you klein is german. no way for non US resident to get a work visa. but I'm sure he will receive sooner or later some job offers from european studios. good luck Quote
kleinluka Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 i think you meant hessi, i already have a job. and there IS a way for non US residents to get work visas for the states. It is just pretty hard (you need a degree or international recognition/awards)... but that's a different subject. stick to topic plz Quote

General Vivi Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 rofl i knew this would start up somthing . i would say valve isn't a real company i would want to go for because after their aftermath stuff is finished what will they do? im sure they dont' need to hire that many people and turtle rock studios does 90% of the css maps. i think hessi should get a job at ubisoft . Defrag Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Valve's profit this year was apparently $55 million. I'm sure they can spare a few beans Quote
mdS Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 I think Hessi will never get a job in the buisness, coz he is study for the next 20Years. And he had often enough the chance to get in and ofcourse he is everytime welcome at my own company. But i think, he knows that! We see us hopefully next year, my little trainee. But first finish your study to get a good stand. cheers your Mayatrainer, mdS Quote
FrieChamp Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 The CS community takes a very close look on gameplay and balancing since it is very competitive, this map seems to have become more an art project. I hope you won't get sick of it before you finish it. I often found myself in the situation that I tweaked one or two really nice spots, made them look good, then got sick of it before building the rest. Retouching stuff before finishing the layout does the same. Good way to improve your artistic skills though and if you put so much love in a level and enjoy it, keep going Quote
Kedhrin Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 how is this map performing? it seems like a lot of detail to me, which is nice - but part of making a good map is making a map that performs well as well. Quote

What does any company do after their projects are done? They start new ones. Except Valve can self-fund whatever the hell they want to do while a lot of other independents have to work out terrible deals with publishers that give them crap for funding (exceptions exist, of course, but not that many). Valve already is working on other projects; they're capable of juggling people around (most studios can and do), and they'll hire anyone with talent if it gets them working under their roof - and at ridiculous salary. their entire company is going to hawaii, all-expenses paid, early next year. Valve = mega moneyhats and incredible freedoms. there are plenty of kick-ass companies out there, and you don't have to like all of them, but to shaft Valve the respect they deserve for what they've pulled off is just silly Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 i was reading an article about the development of hl2 and it was talking about how gabes paid to have everyones' laundry done and other things Quote
Meotwister Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 they're probably working on hl3 as we speak. . . or type. . . whatever. but yeah, me wants to see more of da map. Quote
