rockdude86 Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 This map should be good for instagib DAMN RIGHT! now if only instagib:source had lowgrav and a gamespeed compared to 135% in ut2k4. reply yo phatsniper: im working on that right now its going to be some sort of courtyard (or however you call that) wich will have some sort of waterpit that you can jump in to reach a small tunnel that reaches to the little water stream that you can see in one of the pics everobody tnx for the great comments. i will keep working to make it less repetitive by adding more varied architecture and adding more different textures however i do want to keep as close to this atmosphere as possible so thats going to be pretty difficult but i allready have some cool ideas in mind wich i have to try out to see how it works for the map. anyway any cool ideas are welcome:) Quote
Sixsixone Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Holy Bumpmaps batman! They look awsome But I agree with everyone else, needs better lighting and varation. Quote
rockdude86 Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 time for a small update again. changed a lot of the geometry from the first hall. texturing stil needs some work, door texture is still a 256x256 one wich has to be replaced, havent yet improved the lighting wich like has been said needs more variation/colors. also i have decided to lose tha graal-castle name and change it to dm_grale because i think it sound a lot better... C&C please. Quote
von*ferret Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Make a decal that covers some of the bricks, but instead of just covering them, the decal is made UP of bricks, but whole. If that makes sense. THan have some kidn of engraving or something decorative to put in those walls. So extract a bunch of bricks. Make it one solid brick. Make that one solid brick a decorative element. Make it a decal. Apply it OVER the bricks. Voila! Something to break up your repetition. Quote
Evert Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Looking nice, I like the lightning. It's a DM map, and in DM (most) people want wider corridors, nothing in the environment should feel too small to be able to strife and jump to avoid enemy fire. The corridor to the right in the second screen and the area in the last pic from the newest batch look a little too small, A lot of levels are brought down by this, because people tend to make stuff smaller then it should be, to actually be fun in DM, and this is a temple, you have all the logic rights to put on some size on those types of places. Looking good once again! Quote
ginsengavenger Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 have you got an overview, or sketch or something so we can get an idea of the layout? Quote
rockdude86 Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 this is just a small part of the map. layout is far from finished however i allready have the basic layout pretty much in my head. im now just working out these areas until they are what i think they need to be. all the screens are very very wip so to speak and im working on the things commented, the lighting, more variety etc.. in reply to evert: ill consider making it a bit bigger which i was sortof already thinkinh about cause the outer wall doesnt really seem to go nicely with the inner wal it just doenst feel right to have a nice clean wall against a broken one. in reply to ferret: sorry but i dont think i get exactly what you try to say maybe you can explain it a bit more?? tnx anyway Quote
Hipshot Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Change the environment map. For some reasons valve made high res standard textures, but made all the skies 'low' res. They don't look good when you study them closer. Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 I love this map! In the first shot there isnt much bumpy goodness, too many light sources? Unless its intended in that case dont listen to me lalalala Quote
Belgarion Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 my my. It almost looks as if you're using patches. Incredible. Quote
csharp Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Yep, that would fit perfectly to teh UT2k4! but damn i love that map :S Quote
PhilipK Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 looking better and better all the time very nice work with the geometry Quote
