pengwinzz Posted August 21, 2005 Author Report Posted August 21, 2005 hey dude, I know the corner in the first picture. I spent three years in East Lansing. The second pic is familiar but I can't place it directly. ^^ I didn’t take those pics myself, they are just some reference pics I have on my hd, I’m pretty sure the first pic is somewhere in north america, but I know that the second and the third are definitely in england here’s some new pics lighting better? blockade Some pics of the other vehicles - while the cars look fine in max, in game some of them (especially the smaller ones) seem a little strange in game, probably due to the fov settings but it should be easier to see if the scales are right once there are other player models running round next to them the materials on the cars aren’t finalised yet, but it’s quite difficult to get the body of the cars to look car paint like, as they are so dependent upon the cubemaps, oh and the wheel alloys still look crap here is one prior to buildcubemaps Quote
pengwinzz Posted August 21, 2005 Author Report Posted August 21, 2005 and here after buildcubemaps not looking too bad but this one still looks crap even after the cube maps are built Quote
Fullauto Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Mmmm, digging the cars. Slight design concern - the level looks huge with wide open spaces; fine if it's just for art's sake, but the lack of cover worries me. Quote
Captain P Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 Those textures still have a certain cartoony feel over them now and then. Too clean indeed, but also too cartoony to feel right. Hard to explain I guess. Lighting looks much better now though. Quote
pengwinzz Posted September 9, 2005 Author Report Posted September 9, 2005 some new pics, various textures, brush work and models have been reworked ct spawn t spawn Quote
ginsengavenger Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 more than anything you need signs of life - litter in the gutters, graffiti, steaming manholes, more powerlines, so on. i'm getting a chilly autumn evening vibe, i'd like to see plastic bags tumbling by in the breeze. what makes the map feel so empty is that you've designed it with these huge open spaces that need to be filled, and i think that at this scale source isn't quite capable of the level of detail you really need to make it convincing. Schmung Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 ja, at presetn it looks almost HL1 and looks in places like you;re going for distance for distances sake. A lot of the building have no depth, as mentioned there's little sense of life in there. It looks a little blank at the moment. I think you should tighten it up a lot and focus all the architecture and detail you've got into smaller and more manageable space. That way you can pile on the detail and cram in enough to make it seem more alive without overly large and seemingly pointless areas. Thats my tuppence worth. You'be done a lot right, but there does seem to be a pervasice sense of desertion and emptyness in some of those screens. Quote
SonicDM Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 only thing i have to say is <3 the DB9 and those cars look like they were made for like gta 3 or vice city. same kind of styling. Quote
von*ferret Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I hate the lack of color in the lighting outside, personal preference. Quote
D3ads Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 It's looking a lot better, is this meant to be London? I'm guessing so from the PC vehicle and the signs, which look awesome btw. It's still a bit too clean overall however... Quote
Grin Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 It's good, It's very very good. But: It needs more light, more variation and a little dirt to the textures..And maybe some windows where you could see people watching through, or their siluettes. But, more time and more detail, and much love. Quote
