Taylor Swift
Is an expansion pack better then a full new stand alone game? Expansion packs only feels like un finnished projects. What do you think? Discuss
johnm487
expansion packs are OK. I thought the expansion packs for hl1 like opposing force and blueshift were awsome. you got to see the same story through the eyes of a different character. They add a little more to the game until they release a sequal or whatever.
Taylor Swift
Aha, ok but Opposing Force was really cool ex.pack. Sometimes it even was like a real full game.
ctswin
depends on the quality of it ;o
ReNo
I like them, but rarely as much as the original game. They serve a purpose though - its better to get some third party (or a small internal team) to develop a stop gap addon pack while you make a "proper" sequel, than rush out a new but unpolished sequel after just a year or so. The Half-Life addons did the job right by following the same timeline and story from a different perspective, leaving the actual sequel to continue things on. curman
blueshift was the gayest thing ever you all know it but, expansions for MMORPGs and such are usually great, to the fact that they usuaully unlock more quests, sometimes levels, monsters, equiptment and such that give more incentive to play
DanielAragon
if anyone knows of broodwar and starcraft they know that sxpansion pack can do a very good job of making the game more interesting
Tequila
Opposing Force I'd say was equal to Half Life. No other expansion has come close.
curman
yes agree theres needs to be an opposing force: source BUT BUT BUT i want it a continuation, I don't want a freakin remake of the original, that's boring. I'm tired seeing fucking remakes of maps/mods, they need new content. there should be a whole nother story!!
csharp
i think that expansion packs are better because they replaces the minus from original :S
Section_Ei8ht
i think that expansion packs are better because they replaces the minus from original :S but sometimes they can add new ones to themselves.

GrayFox
Diablo 2's expansion rocked. It had only one new act and still I played it for another 2 years, if not more.
johnm487
they're releasing an expansion pack for half-life 2, but its not like the exp packs for the original, instead its whats going to happen after the citadel explodes, which i think is total fucking bullshit. save the good stuff for half-life 3. source:http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2aftermath/preview_6128325.html
