OrnateBaboon Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 Seems impossible to compile this properly. No errors at all in the compile log. Not even minor ones. Everything is below the limit, with the highest total being the brush count, which is at 75%. Level is properly sky capped, ran on a full rad and vis. Latest drivers, version of directX9c etc. Also tried using batch and the hammer compiler. When running the level, the “HL2 needs to close” message appears. The error report provides no information about the potential error. If the cube maps are deleted, the map will then compile and not crash, except the displacements are black, and vis does not work properly. I know that lots of people are having problems with the HDR bug, and running cubemaps at the moment, but I don’t know whether the map crashing is due to this, or something else. At the moment, hammer just seems very, very buggy. The last two weeks have been spent trying to fix this error, and very little, if any progress has been made. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Quote
DEAD|DJBourgeoisie Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? Valve Seriously, they constantly break things in the sdk, just wait for the hdr update and try again. Ive not had any problems with my maps compiling but I have heard many others complaining. Quote
CoKie Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 any news about the progress of this great looking map? Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 (Wow, a few months too late, but...) Cordon off pieces of the map and compile them seperately, so you can get an idea of the rough location of the error. In the old HL1 days, you would have to do this if the pointfile led nowhere, and it was kind of annoying like that. Quote
General Vivi Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 yes indeed i would love to see this map finished , ! Quote
OrnateBaboon Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 We tried to find the problems with the map, and after a long while of looking, found out that it was the soundscapes that were causing the problem. All the time spent looking for the errors kind of killed our interest in the map. On the positive side, a new layout has been done for this type of themed map, though one which will allow for less old school geometry, and more interesting ideas. Should still be able to use some of the old stuff as well though. Nice to see people are still interested in this Quote
