mike-0 Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I decided to make a thread with my dumb modeling questions. Dumb modeling question number one- OK, i made a box texture thats 128x64 pixels. My model demensions for the side i applied the texture to are 128x64. However, when i apply the texture to the poly, i just get this Quote
kleinluka Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 UVW Map modifier = <3 in english: apply a UVW mapping modifier to your model. Right now it doesn't have any mapping coordinates so it doesn't know how to apply the texture onto the mesh. After that apply a UVW Unwrap modifier and go into edit mode if you want to do further more detailed changes Quote
OL Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 also you need to click the little button in your material browser to display it in the viewport. Quote

ReNo Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I've a basic question of my own - editable mesh or editable poly? I dunno which I should be using, so does it make any noticeable difference? Quote
von*ferret Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 edit poly is a billion more times stronger. Quote
ReNo Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 LOL, thanks for that "technical" advice I'll follow it anyway though, ta Quote

Fullauto Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I prefer editable poly, it keeps the model cleaner while you're working on it, less confusing mike-0, I don't think so, you'll probably have to export to md3 (Q3 format) then convert in milkshape :/ Props for not wanting to pirate anything btw Quote
mike-0 Posted September 18, 2005 Author Report Posted September 18, 2005 im suffering from messed up viewports in gmax thats what happens when i either load it up. it's fully loaded, i can select different viewports and stuff, but i cant see anything. Quote
patriot Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Try changing video driver. If your not using it already I'd reccomend DirectX, if you are already try something different. Customize - Prefrences - Viewports - Choose Driver - Restart Max Quote
