|FRITZ| Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 talk about blowing things out of proportion. Reno was just being a smartass, and Kosmo told him to stfu. Reno wasn't contributing anything positive to this thread, he just posted it to annoy people. So what kind of reply would you expect. Besides, both post weren't really malicious anyways. SO big fucking deal. Quote
ReNo Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Fritz is right really, however I can assure you that I didn't post it to annoy people. It was a bit cheeky I admit, but it was my first thought upon reading that "sentence". I completely agree with Kosmo that there are much worse places for poor grammar and most people here do put effort into their posts, but thats what makes posts that aren't well written stick out like a sore thumb. At the snarkpit over the years we've had many people join the site and post in really obnoxious ways (eg. all caps), but pointing out the fact that others on the site don't do that has tended to make them change their ways. I guess thats what I'm trying to do any time I mention people's bad/lazy posting habits, though I could probably have done it here in a more tactful and respectful manner. Quote
Fullauto Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 On Topic: I always thought the sims were a bit amoral. Monogamy means nothing to them; it's like a free-love commune. On Grammar: Call me prejudiced, but a badly constructed post almost always gets ignored or devalued by me. It conveys an impression that the writer isn't sincere about what he or she has written, that they don't won't take the time to ensure their words are easily comprehensible to others. Quote
Thrik Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 People who write forum posts with grammar formed in such a way that it results in the post being difficult or impossible to read need shooting. People who pedantically correct or point out the flaws in others' grammar when the writings are still legible need strapping onto the back of a truck, reversing into an extremely thick oak tree twelve times, and then shot. Kosmo Posted July 25, 2005 Author Report Posted July 25, 2005 Nuff of off topic grammar related jibber jabbering. Back to topic fo real: Sims 2 is definedly more racy than the original Sims, maybe it has something to do with Singles trying to usher itself to the market through an opening the developers saw, and like with other games, Maxis tries to pleace somewhat everyone. But what can I say, I just got insane grin when my John "the MAN" Shaft put his evil seed on three separate women, now that is what I call good host. Tho what I would like to see in Sims 3 or some of the expansion packs, would be religion, so that you could be just a part of something, or form a cult with followers, or be a fanatic religious zealoth And not to forget the redneck hicks, why can't I make a racist pig in Sims and live in trailerpark like good white trash. So, umm.. my point being, Sims 2 with it's so called nudity is nowhere near what it could be if it was a REAL life simulator, but it's far from it, more like happy life simulator. Your toon seems to always get a job, and eveyone around him is nice and even if people fight, they can be friends, lovers and have a baby in matter of days (yes I have tested this). It creates the illusion that if you work hard enough and long enough, you can buy a sports car and live in a palace. So now come to think of it, it actually IS dangerous to our children, not because it is mildly racy, but becaues it is totally bullhonkey, small kids learn twisted life lessons from this game and think it is allright to hanky panky with several different women, they learn that being a suspicious racist fucker (in strangerhood or what ever, the military guy) is funny. DAMN! I'm not going to let my kids play this game. It's like the crazy Moomin cartoon in the tv, they teach kids to speak the fucked up talk they talk, it's creepy. Well that was just my two credits. JynxDaddy Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 I played the sims and now my vision of reality is completely skewed. Quote

Schmung Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4717139.stm More GTA based hilarity. There seems to be a difficulty in comprehension here, you ahve to explicity modify the bloody game to get at the porn. Firework makers aren't blamed when some fuckwit shoves them up a dogs arse, it's misuse of the product, so you can hardly blame the manufacturers. Still, they're gonna sell a shitload more copies, so I don't suppose they care overly. Quote
D3ads Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 I haven't got my copy yet, think I should go and get hold of it before it's banned? Quote

A definition of youth: the time of life between childhood and maturity So pre-mature age. AND THE GAME WAS RATED MATURE. enough said. Quote

Pre-mature and Mature are still two different things, even if both of them contain the word Mature. Youth is widely used for everything teen and under. Quote
user Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 reread what I said. basically, they're saying that the game is unsuit for today's youth youth refers to the ages before you reach maturity. the game is rated mature therefor, the youth was not intended to play the game, but rather the mature (17+) persons. Oh Misunderstood the message. The problem here is the same as with the Spongebob = Gay thread, it is widely considered that games are for kids, even though the major demographic is around 20-35 year olds, so when a game sells around 2million copies they think that 2million children has got their hands on a violent shooter, when in the reality it is closer to few hundred thousand (or even less) of the buyers are children and majority are the main demoraphic.
