Bunglo Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Crysis 1 is still the best. I enjoyed Crysis 2, especially since a handful of the core worked on it, thought about picking up the 3rd during a steam sell recently but I didn't think I'd ever end up playing it (like most games in my steam library), so I never pulled the trigger. Still curious to see what they throw into this though. blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 Ha! Was coming to post myself. Haven’t played C3 so no idea where this could be going. I thought the IP was dead tbh. Matter of fact I haven’t played C1 either, because when I got my gaming laptop the game wouldn’t run properly (was running better on my mid-tier gpu when I tried the demo). Quote

will2k Posted January 27, 2022 Author Report Posted January 27, 2022 A new Crysis also means a new CryEngine (v5.7 or probably 6.0) with potentially new gamesdk and assets to play with Quote

Bunglo Posted January 27, 2022 Report Posted January 27, 2022 Yeah, they killed that aspect of the franchise with the second one as soon as they expanded to the console market. Can't blame them, it's where the money was/is. If they can create a compelling game outside of graphical fidelity, I will be impressed. Mr.Yeah! 1 Quote

Dunno, the reviews of the remake weren’t really highlighting a lightweight engine. Whether it is just not optimised or does a lot… only Crytek people can tell. Quote

You can compete artistically but technology race seems over. I fear Crytek is a skeleton of what it was during the development of their Magnum Opus (C1). blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted January 28, 2022 Report Posted January 28, 2022 Agree with you @Buddy, the nice thing that has come out of this lost race is that Crytek has focused on alternative solutions that other companies have completely ignored, offering solutions for those that look for something more niche. They have for example an agnostic solution for ray tracing, and I vaguely remember something like software based rendering for reflections or something… Quote
