Nobody was reviving, it was impossible to find ammo and I couldn't easily tell who was an anti-vaxxer so I could support them with ammo/cover fire. The whole class system made Battlefield what it was. You'd have to have a mix of all classes to succeed. Now it just feels like a big deathmatch and everyone is just chasing that kill they wanted. This is how I read it and thought it was just hilarious will2k and -HP- 2 Quote

I didn't play bf4 until years after it came out, so maybe that skewed my view of it, but it just didn't do it for me like bf3 did. I think we just have to except the fact that we all got to experience a pretty special time in gaming. There's been some incredible ones that have come out in recent years but damn, 10+ years ago we were getting hit with games left and right that forced a fundamental shift in the industry. That's why, nostalgia aside, we still look back and point to them as examples of greatness. Beck 1 Quote

We lived through the golden age of gaming I feel and it could just me being old and shouting at clouds but I don't feel like modern games suit me well. There aren't many new games I enjoy like I did back in the late 90's to about the early 2010's. 21 hours ago, blackdog said: See, this is where the specialists work. You and 3 mates. You know who your friends are and where they are since you're most likely on Discord with them. Everyone else is an enemy. It doesn't really matter that everyone else is playing the same characters like in other BR and Tarkov-like games. Other modes in BF2042 really could do with having classes back and everyone plays a nameless soldier unique to their faction. But I guess that won't bring in the dollars from skin sales. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Man, I really am an old man shouting at clouds Edited October 15, 2021 by Beck Radu, El Moroes, Bunglo and 1 other 4 Quote

I assume the reason they did it like this is for marketing reasons (?). Either way, wouldn't it be more fitting to give the players more options of customizing themselves, so to strengthen the theme that they're individuals serving as fodder in a large-scale battle? Just seems like a missed opportunity for me and I'm struggling to see the benefits of having them be distinct characters. I realize that for hardcore players this is barely relevant, but in order to create these players they would have to get them interested to begin with. Just seems a bit jarring that's all Edited October 15, 2021 by syver Quote

blackdog Posted October 18, 2021 Author Report Posted October 18, 2021 Reminds me of one lan playing Day of Defeat where I was pushing the last long street of dod_carentan… I started an engagement with a friend near one of those MG sandbags spots and we both run out of bullets, so we ended up literally running in circles around it, he was frantically trying to reload his Kar, I remembered about the melee attack and wacked him with the butt of my Garand. Just seems a bit jarring that's all I was only talking about the Hazard Zone game mode. I still think have the same specialists on both teams in any other mode is rediculous. Apparently, there is going to be a lot of customisation, and some people are saying this will help players differentiate people, but unless EA/DICE force different teams to have different colours/skins it's not going to help at all. You could still have the same characters looking the same on both teams. A colour change in itself isn't ideal either as the silhouettes of those characters will be the same on both teams too. I just meant this same situation never bothered me on other games where you have small teams sharing the same characters. BR games PUBG, Apex, COD and other shooters like Tarkov. syver 1 Quote

Vilham Posted November 4, 2021 Report Posted November 4, 2021 So wait this has maps from older games? That must have taken a lot of work to make sure they are compatible with newer versions of frostbite, I would think a lot of stuff is different. Quote
