RD Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Then u agree ur own opinion is ignorant. U might think the movie deserves 4,5 stars, but me and the rest of the internet isnt u. Your saying all others on the internet besides me agree with you? You have proven my point. And just for the record, I give it 5 out of 5. No thats not what im saying. When judging a movie u dont just think of ur own opinion. U like it and give it 5 stars, but this has nothing to do with the movie really deserving it. Ur overlooking its obvious flaws becaus u liked the tripod sounds or somthing or u think u understand spielbergs deeper meaning. But u shouldnt have to read the original novel or investigate spielbergs motives to enjoy it. This movie will definitely not go down history as a classic or a masterpiece. A 4 or 5 star movie is a classic masterpiece. Quote

This is exactly what I meant by people clinging to the most irrelevant parts of a movie and then kind of "give up" on the film. Pathetic. Quote

ReNo Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Likewise I enjoyed the film but its not a classic. Its an entertaining diversion, but it doesn't leave much of a lasting impression. Too many occasions in which Mr.Cruise NEARLY lost his life, and every time there was some sort of line or barrier, him and his family were ALWAYS at the front. It was too much "him him him" - why did it have to be him he spotted the birds resting on the tripod, or him that used the grenades to destroy one? Why did it have to be him and his family alone that made it into Tim Robbin's basement, or had a working car? How everything around the plane wreck was destroyed...except their working car? Just a bit too contrived, conincidental, and overall too damn lucky for the family. So yeah, enjoyable, but I think people are trying to turn it into something it isn't by making it out to be some sort of classic. Quote
