I totally loved it! However I agree that having the son survive was really lame, it was like they were slowly making people realize that this wasnt a happy movie the entire way through, but then just screw it up in the end, that was a bad choice. Apart from that, brilliant, Spielbergs best movie in years.

Now I just need those sounds from the tripod horns~

Aye silver 3 out of 6, I subscribe for Berlingske Tidende, and tbh then I almost always disagree with their main reviewers opinions. In fact, I totally disagree with all the WotW reviews Ive read

I have learned never to trust any reviews. They are just opinions and everybody has their own. Even though I'm a huge Spielberg fan I can honestly say that this movie is awesome. Even the ending.

As for the tripod call, here you go mazzle:

I have to agree with grayfox on this, specially when they bashed fight club over here back in 1999 because some stupid psycho broke into a theater and sprayed his gun on the people watching the movie. Then society had to blame something and they blamed the movie and doom. (The guy assumed he never watched the movie and didnt even know what movie was being played on the room).

Im looking really forward to seeing this movie, I saw the trailler and it looked pretty good!

Never trust any reviewer since they are prettymuch bunch of snobs with their cherry and cigars. Here is Finland we have this short review program on tv called 'Projektori' they usually review movies at theaters every week, and EVERY time me and my cousin see that and it has a artsy fartsy art flick on it, they usually give it the highest reviews, once they actually said that they would have given the movie points over the scale because it was so good and it was some mexican art picture about some mother just sitting on a beach and telling stories, so they much be brain dead or they take loads of acid and watch the movies.

So, if you have to read action movie reviews, then take the score and double it, the you are closer to the truth.

A while ago there was a pretty mature film review program on danish TV. Back then I was young and naive, and every time the reviewer gave the american action movies, that I thought were great at the time, bad reviews I just stamped him as a moron (Because who could possibliy hate generic american action movies :D). However later I have realized that he was pretty much always right. Now theres nothing but crappy reviewers left, so you pretty much have to count on others, wheter movies are worth seeing.

I have noticed that the best thing to do is to just watch the movies, I know everybody bashed Alone in the Dark by Uwe Boll and I knew that Uwe is a steaming pile of doodoo, but I watched the movie and yes it sucked balls. But I usually watch around 2-4 movies per week, usually rent or pick a dvd from my friend who is a movie fanatic and collector, very rarely I don't see a movie because some review or some of my friend tought it sucked, I just watch the movies even tho my gut instinct says they are true.

People should see the must see movies like Matrix and it's crappy sequels because they are must see to know what the hell people are talking about.

U STILL ARE=)

Anyways, about WOTW, its definitely a good movie, but when watching it i felt like it didnt give me what i wanted. The tripods are awesome and the sounds they make too, then why didnt they put more tripods in it, why didnt they show cities being destroyed by tripods. For example (SPOILER COMING), the scene at the lake with the boat, and the tripod coming over the hills. I thought it was gonna be sweet, but then Tom cruise steps on the boat and sails away from the action JESUS. Its just evrytime something big is happening spielberg decides to go to some backplace nobody cares about where theres just one alien in the distance shooting beams. At the end where the the soldiers were driving with tanks and jeeps and choppers to the tripods, steven again decides not to show any of the combat and just some cheap explosions over the hills.

It was more about war of the towns and abandoned hills than war of the world, just didnt feel like there was a big war going on. /rd frustrates wants more tripod action

That scene where the reporter shows some footage of lotsa tripods destroying a city, thats what the movie shouldve been about. Steven ruined it
