-HP- Posted March 28, 2021 Report Posted March 28, 2021 Hey guys, Finally got around to make a short breakdown of the Source 2 scene I made a while ago. I made sure I took a few WIP screenshots as I worked on it, so I could do a thorough breakdown later on, so here you have it. This engine is really fun to work with, you can model nearly everything in editor, just like you could back in the BSP era, I really hope to see more engines (specifically Unity/Unreal) follow suit, as removing the need to use so many third party apps from your workflow really makes making maps a lot more fun. (Had to divide it into two parts, as ArtStation limits the amount of characters per post.) https://www.artstation.com/helderp/blog/vglP/porto-portugal-source-2-breakdown-part-1-2https://www.artstation.com/helderp/blog/LZy1/porto-portugal-source-2-breakdown-part-2-2 Steam workshop download link:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2176807868 Steam workshop Night Version download link:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2211782075 Squad, Kokopelli, dmu and 30 others 12 21 Quote

Is a big drop Posted the WIPs on our discord, never on the actual forum though. I did this during those weird months of hard lockdown last year, thank god I had a new toy to distract me during those times man. I wanted to wait until I had time to write up a breakdown before putting it here. blackdog 1 Quote
-HP- Posted March 29, 2021 Author Report Posted March 29, 2021 I wanted to document my lighting process, so I recorded myself doing that night scene. It's sorta long (3.5 hours) but I hope it helps someone. Plus, it's free so you can't say uncle HP has never done anything for you I actually learned a lot making this. One thing is to never narrate these things at 1am, I was a bit too whispery. Evert, UNREA1, Buddy and 8 others 7 4 Quote

Going to watch the whole series, but damn you went ham! These are long af -HP- 1 Quote
Minos Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 So fucking good! Really fun to read the breakdown, I love how instead of a step by step, it's just a journal of the journey. Looking forward to watching the night lighting tutorial -HP- 1 Quote
That50'sGuy Posted April 28, 2021 Report Posted April 28, 2021 I played around in it, and it was really fun! Not to mention, that the graphics were beautiful! -HP- 1 Quote
Skjalg Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 This is beautiful, sorry to revive an old thread but I feel like you missed an opportunity to have a more well known face here. El Moroes and FMPONE 1 1 Quote
