FMPONE Posted May 23, 2020 Author Report Posted May 23, 2020 Why I hate the vertex tool, in one image. The stupid gizmo takes priority over verts Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 23, 2020 Report Posted May 23, 2020 welcome to 3D modeling lol. You can use middle mouse to lasso select the vert -HP-, FMPONE and Squad 3 Quote

The gizmo has long enough arms where if you want to interact with it you still can by clicking anywhere along the 95% of the arms that aren’t occupied by a vertex. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 24, 2020 Report Posted May 24, 2020 Hah, I guess I've had this problem in every 3D modelling package :p. I believe this was one of the reasons adding a gizmo to blender was so controversial for so long! I agree priority could be different FMPONE 1 Quote
-HP- Posted May 24, 2020 Report Posted May 24, 2020 It's because of stuff like that I often just use marquee selections anyway, even if I'm selecting a single vert or edge, smoother than having to do a precision single click. Hammer's lasso selection works pretty well. I think you can also swap it's behavior from full object bounding box inside the lasso area drawn or just touching it. Started doing a few tests with this, now that I finished HLA. And I'm in love with the tilable meshes function, that paired with the ability to straight up model, texture map and vertex paint in editor is an absolute joy. FMPONE 1 Quote
Mitch Mitchell Posted May 24, 2020 Report Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) Does it have a one-click 'align all vertexes to grid' option/command? (haven't used it yet, just wondering) Edited May 24, 2020 by Mitch Mitchell Quote
FMPONE Posted May 27, 2020 Author Report Posted May 27, 2020 I would like a "convert to vertex" (+convert to edges, convert to faces, etc) feature when you have brushes selected ~! Quote

Workaround is to lower grid to 1 or 2, then scale the verts into a row, bump the grid back up and snap to grid. FMPONE 1 Quote

I don’t really recommend doing this if you ever work on a lower grid size because you’ll have to realign verts that get slightly off grid. An align feature would be nice. Thanks for mentioning the hot key for converting to X. It would be nice if that was available via right clicking ala Max Quote

An align feature would be nice. That's why you must remember to bring grid back up, and realign it. I hate having to go down to grid 1 to do anything, it creates bad rabbits, but it's the only workaround I found for the time being. (I also do the same in Maya) Yeah, a "align selection to nearest grid point" would be useful. FMPONE 1 Quote
FMPONE Posted May 27, 2020 Author Report Posted May 27, 2020 I also don’t really like how doubleclicking edges selects every edge. Max makes a lot more sense just selecting one edge plane because that allows you to keep edges aligned without manually selecting multiple edges or doing unpredictable edge loop/ring selects Quote
