blackdog Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 (edited) Good gawd that looks crispy af wonder if the synth the combine are looking at in the second shot is one of the cut synths (the one that I think makes an appearance in the citadel just in the background) or is the upper body of a strider Edited February 14, 2020 by blackdog Quote
Buddy Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 Whats with the constant complaining about Valve and their SDK? Chill out people. New full length Half-Life game is not enough to satisfy you nowadays? Vaya, -HP- and dux 3 Quote
dux Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 I need episode 3. I need an SDK. I need an index. I need a girlfriend. Come on valve, pull your finger out and fix my life. El Moroes, -HP-, Vaya and 8 others 2 1 8 Quote

Artifact isnt a mobile game, they thought they might try and port it, but didnt after it declined. 2. Underlords had a pretty significant and enthusiastic player-base that rapidly declined when Valve didnt update the game quick enough, thought it still has 10,000 players who seem to really like the game. We saw this exact same downer attitude when Valve announced L4D2, people on this very forum claimed they wouldnt release an SDK for it because they just wanted money. They announced portal 2, "oh they wont release an sdk because they love money". CSGO, same thing "oh they are trying to compete with COD and Battlefield, no SDK for us Valve is dead". Chances are, just like with left 4 dead 2, the SDK isnt ready for a public release. They have to work on a consumer version and make sure it runs well before they release it. People said the golden age of Valve was over when they release Ricochet, they said it was over when they released TF2, people thought Valve releasing another counter strike game was a cash grab and indicated the golden age was finally over. They are going to release HLA, they are going to make a few more VR games, then when they try to do something else you will see people claiming the golden age of valve is over. If they ever release HL3 people will claim its a cash grab and Valve is no longer the golden company. Assuming things you dont know just so you can be upset isnt a good way to live life. They wouldnt be adding steam workshop support if they didnt have an sdk planned. -HP- and ElectroSheep 2 Quote

Seriously consider getting a Oculus Rift S, it's only $400 and it's pretty damn good. Do some research of the pros and cons. blackdog 1 Quote

Radu Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 "Bram Eulaers, a 3D Artist at Valve, has made a similar pilgrimage. “Being a Half-Life 2 fan has helped quite a bit with regard to knowing the story, and having done tons of Half-Life 2 modding back in the days helped me understand the design philosophies,” he says. “Joining Valve has felt more like coming home than going on a new journey.”" https://www.vg247.com/2020/02/19/half-life-2-influence-half-life-alyx/ Lizard, Minos, -HP- and 5 others 8 Quote
mtchromatic Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 Hey the Half-Life 3 "actual release coincident with the rapture" bit has been removed from the Valve Time page on VDC. There's still the Game Awards showcase that didn't happen. Hope the planned March 23 release date doesn't end up here too. Quote
Adil3tr Posted February 24, 2020 Report Posted February 24, 2020 This is a guide I made to help people get into this. Feel free to contact me if you need any advice, help, anything to get into VR. https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/f2hsql/requirements_for_half_life_alyx_and_how_to_get/ I'm really interested in understanding how the source modding community feels about Alyx. It will have Hammer support at launch, is anyone planning on making any mods for it even before an SDK is announced? Quote

Zarsky Posted March 2, 2020 Report Posted March 2, 2020 It's been awhile since I've bought a game pre release or even at launch. Today was one of those rare times. Squad 1 Quote
dux Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Yeah, that's all great, but where are the Indexes at? You spend 50 years making a VR Game then massively underestimate your own fanbase and can't provide the headsets. I'm sat here with cash in hand ready, Valve...
