Rooke Posted July 12, 2019 Report Posted July 12, 2019 My map for this contest will be based in the Favelas around Rio De Janeiro, Situated around a railway track which the terrorists aim to blow up. Bombsite A is located at a train intersection near a railway bridge, and Bombsite B is located underneath that bridge. I aim for the map to have colourful and bright atmosphere and aesthetic. Here are some references: Spoiler I have made the greybox in hammer over the last two days, so here are a few screenshots and the workshop link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1800132839 Spoiler Thanks for the opportunity, all feedback is welcome. Rooke Posted July 12, 2019 Author Report Posted July 12, 2019 (edited) Small Update: I reworked the drop-down entrance to the A-Site so that it is less useful for the T-side, and i moved t-spawns back as the map felt ct sided. (A site is the left site on radar) Edited July 15, 2019 by Rooke Donskioni and ABYS1 2
Rooke Posted July 14, 2019 Author Report Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) New version of the map is now on the workshop! I've changed the name of the map to Rio, which is more fitting than the previous name which I started to dislike. (Only issue is that I'm not sure how to change the name of the thread) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1800132839 Here's this updates radar: So the changes in this version centre very heavily around the middle of the map, as it felt boring, uninspired and frankly quite generic. So I've made more interesting by giving it a direct sight-line to the bombsite A, which makes it more risky for pushing terrorists as they now have to be more cautious to hold such a powerful position on the map. I have also changed the ct entrance to a window rather than a doorway to change things up. Spoiler Another change that I have made is quite trivial, but i have the bombsite over, so that the left bombsite is bombsite A and the right bombsite is bombsite B, as that is how I planned for it to be. I have also made some tweaks to sight-lines on the B Bombsite, by making the arch/bridge smaller to make it easier for attacking terrorists that had to check lots of angles previously: Spoiler Thanks for checking out this update, see you in a few days with another one! MikeGon Posted July 15, 2019 Report Posted July 15, 2019 Nice progress so far!! Will the train be stationary like this (and make people late to work ), or will it pass by on a loop a la Overpass? I see you uploaded it to workshop, I'll take it for a spin as soon as I can! On 7/12/2019 at 9:20 AM, Rooke said: Nice choice of theme btw! Due to the nature of it I expect a fair amount of verticality Keep up the nice work, Good luck with the contest! Rooke 1
esspho Posted July 16, 2019 Report Posted July 16, 2019 Here is some quick feedback after a bot match. what I like: - the bridge at B site what could be improved: - more than 1 one-way-drop is propably too much. it's a little annoying to run into the deadend near ct spawn. a boost would be great here - there is a 64 unit high cover on B site. make it either lower or higher avoid unfair headpeaks. 48/56 or 80/96 units works well. - that vent needs some light - overall the map feels a bit corridor heavy. maybe it would help to partially lower the surroundings. nice work so far. keep it up Rooke 1
mr.jogurt Posted July 18, 2019 Report Posted July 18, 2019 oh my this looks nice! i really like the view of the layout. the train could be an interesting part to boost over Rooke 1
Rooke Posted July 20, 2019 Author Report Posted July 20, 2019 New Update, I've fixed issues with the map, and I have improved the maps layout based on feedback I have received. I have also added Clip Brushes to the map. No major changes though. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1800132839 Radar:
