Radu Posted July 23, 2019 Report Posted July 23, 2019 Nothing to do with Epic, or does it, but Ubisoft will also be supporting Blender: "Not only will Ubisoft help funding online support for Blender developers, Ubisoft Animation Studio – a department of Ubisoft Film and Television – will also use Blender for their productions and assign developers to contribute to Blender’s open source projects." https://www.blender.org/press/ubisoft-joins-blender-development-fund/ Zarsky and Squad 2 Quote

Didn't want to spam this thread with this, but I'm really excited for the support Blender is getting. There's also rumors of some more announcements at Siggraph in a week. Should there maybe be a Blender thread here too? I'd imagine there's many mappers here using blender. -HP-, Radu, Squad and 1 other 4 Quote
-HP- Posted July 23, 2019 Report Posted July 23, 2019 Fuck yeah Blender! Pericolos0 Posted July 23, 2019 Report Posted July 23, 2019 +1 for Blender thread! I've been using it for my professional work for over 2 years now, and it's really made me love modelling again. Of all the modeling packages, its probably the best one for level design too -HP- and Zarsky 2 Quote
WD Posted July 23, 2019 Report Posted July 23, 2019 I'd like to learn to love blender. Whenever I try, the polygon tools just doesn't seem to work for me. I'm too used to think how I would do things 3dsMax style. I get frustrated and quit and return to using max Quote

They've revamped the UI and added industry standard keymap with left click select + many sweet improvements like PBR-viewport etc. RC2 just landed and the final release should drop this week if no showstoppers arise. blackdog Posted September 24, 2019 Author Report Posted September 24, 2019 (edited) Valve is hitting back, with a new clause in their contract that would make devs to choose between releasing on Steam, and other storefronts if they want, or be out of steam for good. Seems like a smart move, I guess they are counting on the non-sustainability of the Epic model. Video has offset to the meat. Edited September 24, 2019 by blackdog Zarsky and -HP- 2 Quote

They got a bargain. Paying $1,000,000 for “Mutant Year Zero”? Wtf The rest seems reasonable. Quote
-HP- Posted May 4, 2021 Report Posted May 4, 2021 11mil might sound like a lot of ruppies for you and me, but that's a drop in the bucket for a big corpo. Gotta hand it to Epic, they're playing the long game to win. Quote

And they have loads thanks to Fortnite… when you make up to $400 mil in a month, you paid for the free games for years ahead! ~ It will be interesting to find out more about their publishing initiative, haven’t heard anything after Remedy signed on. One of the reasons Steam is the go to for consumers, its largely due to features. Edited May 9, 2021 by Vilham Minos and Zarsky 2 Quote
