I did not really accomplish the goals I set for 2018. I got distracted a lot by helping other people with their needs and problems, so for 2019, my goal is to focus on my own development again. I didn't really move much in 2018. Time to get going again!

> Get maps finished for Classic Offensive
> Practice working with Maya and Substance Designer
> Re-Do/Update my portfolio
> Get married

Happy New Year everybody!

When making these goals you have to be precise at what you want to do exactly, vague general statements never get accomplished.

Also, penalize yourself if you fail somehow, and reward when you don't. Otherwise, whats the point?

Happy new years everyone :celebrate:

I'm currently 16 years of age, and I figured I should probably start working out this whole entire year with a plan, diet and all that shit cuz I would consider myself the weakest man alive.

Can't even do 1 fucking push-up, which is not just bad but also quite embarrassing. I'm 6'2 and I weigh somewhere around 190 pounds (been a while since I was on a scale so thats my estimate) so I'm nowhere near obese. I'm just in need of muscle.

I have the first 3 months planned with what I'll do for morning exercises, and then my dad is gonna help me out with the diet stuff.

So my 2019 will consist of:

  - Working out (Morning exercises everyday, go to the gym with some friends a few times a week and also run occasionally)

  - Hopefully not fail school

  - Finish the 3 wingman maps I'm working on

  - Push myself to learn more about 3D Modeling and custom content in general for CS:GO

  - and not die

2018 was absolutely fucking insane for me. Having a kid, announcing Europa my indie game, and things are not exactly slow at work either, we're working on something exciting.

For 2019, i wanna keep pushing forward on my career. I want to try and dedicate 1 hour a day to working on Europa, i think this thing has a lot of potential i just need to keep putting the work in.

I wanna try and be the best dad I can be, my little guy Leon just turned 7 months, and as he grows up I want to make absolute sure i instill the best foundation for his life. So far I'm loving the experience, and I can't wait to see him develop and grow in 2019.

I want to be more disciplined, I feel with a kid, I obviously have less free time, but I'm surprisingly more productive. But there's still a lot of room for improvement, specially in the discipline area. I basically grew up without a father since my 9 years old, and I lacked that. I want to plan my day a bit more rigorously, putting time aside for many things, such as exercising, hitting the floatation tank, reading, and relaxing. I hate following a schedule, but i think if I plan ahead just a little bit, i can improve my day to day life.

I also want to try and get less mad at all the retarded shit we see in the world, the things you give your attention to are shaping you, even if you are only reacting against them. "Pay attention to what you're paying attention to.
Become conscious of your focus and guide it."

That it! You guys have a badass 2019

I stopped working on Europa for a few months, but resumed recently. I still continued learning UE4, specially the scripting side. Now I'm working to finalize the gameplay vertical slice, which is a bit apart from my area of expertise so it's a bit more challenging.

I tried to find a programmer to give me a hand with the more advanced side. Specially with player movement which require a level of know-how that i dont have, but it's hard to find people who have free time that don't already have their own thing going. I've been saving some money so I'm thinking of hiring a freelancer.

I also been working on concepts, the GDD is "done" and the main hero character design, cant wait to show that.

I was thinking, i don't know if I wanna go a full year without updates, but I don't wanna be too granular about them either, for a few reasons.

Sorry, i didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Happy new year all! I've not been checking Mapcore much recently but thought I'd jump on and see what everyone's up to.. I really hope you all achieve your goals this year.

2018 was a great year for me.. I think. I struggle to see the positives sometimes! Anyway, I got married to my girlfriend of 10 years... We bought our first house, got a bloody DOG (who I love to bits. shes seriously just gorgeous and so friendly to everyone. She melts our hearts all the time!)... Work is really good fun though it can be hard to get motivated when working from home. But what I'm really chuffed with from a game dev standpoint is the fact that I finally started to learn blueprints in UE4, and I'm making my own little retro shooter. Hopefully one day I can release it, but I'm taking it one step at a time. I haven't had this much fun doing games stuff in... well, I can't even remember how long. It feels like a new world of things to explore!

So, in 2019, here's what I want to do:

  • Make lots more progress on my game. I'm not sure what's feasible really, but I think I can release a short demo online, towards the end of the year.
  • Make more friends in my local area. We moved somewhere new, and live in more of a suburban neighbourhood in a smallish town, so I need to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people.
  • Keep in touch more with old friends. God, I'm terrible at this. I had a pretty bad experience with some old school friends back at University (I was pretty depressed and didn't want to go home to hang out with them all, so I think they took it as me not liking them? Dunno, it was all a bit unresolved), and it kinda shook me a bit and I find it much easier to retreat into solitude rather than hang out. I need to sort this, and I've already made plans to meet up with Uni mates this year.
  • Look after my mental health a bit more. I think I've suffered with depression for a while. Perhaps not a chemical imbalance (I don't want to try anti-depressants), but I think I would benefit from going to therapy. So that's something I'm going to do this year, see a therapist. Fuck knows what my issues are but maybe they'll come out when I'm there :)
  • Look after my physical health. I gained a bit of weight this year due to various stresses, so I want to work out a little more.
  • Play more piano. I finally got my piano back from home and brought it to my new house.. Need to practice more and get back up to my old standards!
  • Write music. I think I'll write music for the game I'm working on, which is pretty exciting. No idea where to start :)

Anyway, that's it I guess! Hope you're all good guys :)
