Steam Dislike/Likes

I truely think Steam is a great product that can be used in many ways... I think that it allows for developers to to stay more on the ball on there updating process but also makes roll backs etc.. a lot easier. I also think that if valve took steam and ported it to consoles it could server a good purpose in bring a commmunity that is fragmented together and finally see PC and console unity.

I myself i hate the idea of net play on consoles, all of the other stuff you want while playing on the net, a computer gives you.

Too me, a console is like a little lan party full of super easy to install games to play when im relaxed.

but yeh... Steam is good, but Australian internet isnt made for steam... that makes it suck.

I agree on some level steam on consoles sounds lame just because today steam is a piece of shit... but the fact is that if they ported the thing over it would open a new world for consoles and it would drive console sales up... I mean the market shows that when you have compliance between to major entities that both entities will propspur... an example of this is Gameboys... they had the highest sales of gameboys when they could hook them up to the SNES or the gamecube... If you port steam over your rbing the PC and console world together which is something we need in the game market.

Excellent points by all. I'm sure Gates would never agree to using the product who knows about Sony or Nin, but I personally would like to see how this product can expand in the future, it has real potential.

no offense to KD but when ppl say they can see gr8 potential i 10% can't see it i no wat there trying to do but i don't get it ;o~ to me it luks like gamespy but in one program u pay for quick d/ls and have a lame program to find servers its like a fileplanet in a program there was really nothing wrong with the old way and the fact that WON has never been broke has gotta show for something don't think won has ever been succefully hacked or cracked...just seems like another way of.....its like a club card u get at the shops they want u use there stuff and seeing there ads ...meh or well ....probly more spelling mistake the normal here sorry D:~ im sleepy and cold

None taken , btw for clarification i said real potential, and basically meant it does have potential to be improved on in the future. Perhaps you can't see it now, but different people just see different things, and i suppose i see it as having many different uses in the future or it COULD be improved upon.

Never been hacked? but don't tell me it hasn't had its share of problem. IE: Downtime and other problems. Just have to realise nothings perfect.

well won never faild to work for me and i don't think there any key gen thats work for it... it all seems a lil ott i wud rather they had put more money effort into a new game then steam :\ but hay such is life uh?

I guess this is where you and I disagree Jynx... I think that if your going to port a game like cs or red faction or something or even EQ for god sakes from the PC to console ot should be atleast able to play with people. The whole reason why i would never buy something like CS for the xbox... other then valve being greedy SOBS is because i can't play with anyone... Contrary to some PC are not always the biggest thing in some parts of the world if you go to places like michigan and wisconsin and north and south dakota( misspelled I am sure) you will find that consoles are more frequently seen then PCs there is a bigger market for them there. So i think that if they are going to port shit why not fucking make it compatible

So me and wacko were playing pool the other day and we started discussing steam. Then wacko got so mad at me he started hitting me with the pool stick, and then i combatted his +5 Pool hitting with my +8 hitting Cue ball off the table skills, striking my opponent helpless.

Ok that never actually happened. But we did have an interesting convo about steam and i still think its just got some work to be done on it, but i do like playing checkers on it

I think it was cruel to use HL as a test rat, Half Life works wonderful without steam, and well we have all seen steam pings.. ewwwwwwwwwwww
