I tend to agree there Minotauro. BUT...

If being labelled as this or that will limit me or make me not be taken seriously in something that I care about, such as spreading the good gospel of games, then I will fight it with all I got.

I remember when my I was still living in Germany working on textures from home and my sister and pretty much everybody else would keep telling me to do something useful with my life and that I would never get anywhere in life spending so much time on the computer.

Boy did it feel great to prove them all wrong.

I think my family has finally realized that the games industry is something that's on the rise and something that does indeed have a future. Even if they never wanted to believe it.

Oh and

This most be my most successful joke ever, 3 and a half page ! GO ME :banjo:

Anyway, Iv'e been called a nerd to but i take quite lightly on that, infact it makes me somewhat happy cause that means Im good at the stuff i do.

"Geekyness" have been more accepted over the years, now its "hip" to play games and i think most of it has to do with CS. CS spread to a wide range of people who wouldent wanna touch a computer before, so when I see the "cool" people who once teased me playing CS its makes me think like "Oh so its OK now ?"

I end it here before it gets to long to read

What the hell are you doing Mazy? You should be the first one to wear them. They can be picked up on eBay for less than 10 pounds every week. If I ever go to interview with IO-I I'll make sure I wear one...

Better make that an SCi shirt then D:

Yup! I'd sit on the computer all day and map and they'd tell me to do others things, but look where it got me. :P

I think the whole 'something useful' thing is quite relative. While getting a job in the industry will prove your parents wrong, i don't think it matters that much (for justifying spending time on the computer, not in life or anything, pets klein~). If you enjoy something, then it's time well spent. Period. Personally i think that everybody should enjoy the stuff they do and stop to care about things other people say about you. The meaning of life is having fun and enjoying your time. Computer games are fun, and therefor.... well you get the point. It's time well spent. Have fun.

Klein: The day i'll be able to do just that would be like, even better than things are now. I guess it's just like when i sold my first painting. 4 fours of work, 200 euro's. Damn i loved the faces of my friends :)

when gaming and maping and computing in general gets accepted as a form

of entertainment, like movie making, then the label "gamer"

wont be anything to be ashamed of...not that it is now,

but as of now, id hate to go to a party and say,

"hi, im Danny, a gamer"...
