It's useful for storing all kind of information (passwords, email adresses, FTP logins, conversations with various people, ... ) so that I don't have to dig in my HD to find a tiny bit of information each time I need it.

Also, I just like to have everything "within reach".

The same applies to my desk: while it's by no means a small desk (+- 2m*1m and that doesn't even include the shelf behind it), the only space that's still free is the one between my monitor and my chair. I'd show you a pic, but I don't have a digicam
