[Source] Flag models

Recommended Posts

Welcome again comrades!

Since my last two threads before this where I released flags of Europe and some of North America were popular, I decided to make a new thread dedicated to these.

I'll be gradually releasing the flags of every country, and much much more, so be sure to follow if you wish to see more my comrades! :D

These can be used in any Source game of your choosing. (I'm not sure, but since Source 2 is backwards compatible with Source content, I have a strong feeling these will work for that too)

Feel free to ask me to make the flag of any nation, province, state, ect. for you and I'll do it gladly! Just leave a post on what you want. And if you'd like, you can also ask me to make a tattered version too! :)

If you have a custom design (Logo, custom flag, picture, ect.) that you would like on a flag, I'll also do that for you too!

Don't worry about giving me any credit for the flags since they are just the CS:GO flag models with a different flag flying. But if you really want to, go ahead!

I would also be delighted if y'all would send a screenshot or two of these flags in your map, just post your screenshots of them in the comments section!

Here are the flags I previously posted.

European flag models: http://tiny.cc/EuropeanFlagModels

North American flag models (NOTE: That this is incomplete and only contains Canada, USA, and Mexico): http://tiny.cc/NorthAmericanFlagModels

Tomorrow (October 18'th, 2018) I'll be releasing the Northern Cyprus flag and a big surprise for fans of European history like me.

Stay tuned, and happy mapping y'all!

I ♡ The 1950's

(Oh and here's a tip for if you have multiple flags in the same scene)

Ahoy comrades!

Today I got a request to make the Puerto Rican flag from @Impulzer. He/She also sent me a custom Anarchist variant to also put on the flag too.

Once I finish making the rest of the North American flags, I'll include the regular Puerto Rican flag in that as well :)

Happy mapping y'all!

No problem comrade! Here's a little tip if you have them visible in the same scene! give one (Or both) of them a name, and add a logic_auto for (each) one and set the playback rate to anywere from 0.50 to 1.75 (Just avoid anything from 0.95 to 1.05), this is so you can't tell they both use the same animation :)

Here's how to add sound to your flags!

Place an ambient_generic entity near the flag on the pole and set the "Sound Name" parameter to: ambient\wind\flag_and_rope_loop.wav

Or if you don't like the sound of the metal clips clanging on the metal, you can set it to: ambient/atmosphere/office_outside_flag_lp_02.wav

Set the "Start Volume" to 10

Under "Flags", uncheck every box.

Now your flag has sound!

If you're mapping for something else besides CS:GO, you can download the audio files here: http://tiny.cc/FlagSounds

Just remember to type: snd_updateaudiocache into the console after putting them into your files.

Happy mapping!!!

Ahoy comrades!!!

A while ago, @blackdog requested I make wall flags, and I plan to make a lot of them.

As for right now, I figured I'd give y'all a taste by making a few iconic wall flags (USA, Canada, Japan, UK, and USSR)

They all come with a detail texture overlay on them to make them look much nicer!

Happy mapping!!!

Hiya!

Today I present to y'all: The flags of Australia and (Former) East Germany/GDR (I've had the East German anthem stuck in my head for literally the whole day so I decided to make it)

These include a wall variant too, so feel free to get creative!

If y'all want, I might start making ceiling flags too (Flags that hang from the ceiling of course :))

Here are the model names:

Australian flag on pole: flagpole_austria

Australian flag on wall: wallflag_australia

East German flag on pole: flagpole_eastgermany

East German flag on wall: wallflag_eastgermany

Download: http://tiny.cc/GDR_AUS

Happy mapping y'all!!!

(And don't worry that the East German wall flag is reversed in the screenshots, I fixed it after taking the screenshots)

Did you use ncloth to make these?

I have not a clue as to what "Ncloth" is, so nope :) They are just the CS:GO flagpoles with different flags on top. The wall flags are just the Phoenix flag but with a different flag being hung up.

Alright, I did some testing with the new detail sprites and found out how more specifically how they work. @Mamorex was on the right track but there's a few key things you left out.

Removing $alphatest from the material or adding $translucent

First, the detail sprites material - it's 2 detail sprite sheets side by side, so version A and version B. The different versions have to have same sprite positions and sizes. You only specify version A coordinates in the .vbsp.

Next up, the detail sprites masks. Red and blue are for wind offset -- so you can have different parts of the sprites sway in the wind differently, you can see Valve isolated some blades of grass for this effect. The green channel is a tint mask and controls how much the sprites are affected by the $worldspacetint.

That brings us to the world space textures. They seem to automatically get resized to fit the whole map area, so it you resize the map you'd have to resize the textures too.

The world space tint texture is pretty self explanatory, controls what color to tint the grass, 127 grey means no tint.

The world space masks texture uses the red channel to select which version of the sprites to use -- 0 is version A and anything more is version B.

The green channel of the texture controls the sprite size -- 127 is default, with darker making the sprites smaller and brighter making the sprites larger. The vmt command $minimumspritesize controls the cutoff point for the sprites, so the sprites smaller than the specified value don't get rendered which can act as a placement mask.

I don't know what the blue channel of this texture does, changing it had no effect on the sprites for me.

All this means sprites still get placed by vbsp on map compile, so they still use displacement alpha for the placement, but the new masks can manipulate sprites size and color after map compile.
