PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Thought I'd make an own post for this instead of spamming that Wip-thread My goal is to make a room with quite a lot of details in 3ds max. Since I'm quite a n00b at the program I thought this would be a nice exercise to get a bit better. Anyway here is the most recent screen. (I might change the table uvw to 2048 instead since it looks a bit overscaled atm) Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 This is with a 2048x2048 texture on the table instead. Btw. All textures you see are very wip atm. I'm also gonna smack in a lot more details like cords, a mouse, papers, lamps etc on the table. Quote
Tequila Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Looks better than Lionhead's Room! Nah seriously, looks very nice. Really feeling the grain of that wood. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 looks nice already . Try to make the surfaces look realistic by some cool material usage, rather than spending too much time on the actual bitmaps. dunno if you've seen ti yet, but heres a good tutorial on making interior scenes http://www.evermotion.org/tutorials/mic ... rior01.htm Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 Ah yeah, had that in mind peri I know nothing about lighting or materials really. But Im def gonna try using some cool effects. Here is an overview of the whole room so far.. gives u an idea of how much is to be made still Quote
cyberjunkie Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 It looks very good PhilipK, The models are nice and I love the textures and feel of it overall Quote
Lee3dee Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 looks really good, the floor texture is awesome! if you want some sweet GI (Global Illumination) Vary free http://www.vrayrender.com/demo/ will make lighting look even better . Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 I tried to install vgui but didnt seem to work Yeah 2048 map for the whole table that is. Quote
Lee3dee Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 I tried to install vgui but didnt seem to work hmmm, did u download the demo or free one. goto render scene, and under Assign Render, change production to vray. Then when you goto the renderer tab, you will see a ton of options. I usually keep the image sampler at simple two-level. You have to turn on GI rendering, default is turned off. Set irradiance map preset to medium, because unlike other renderers this render does each frame in different passes. Other than that, play around with the settings like I do. Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 ah nice. thanks a lot for that info Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 Didn't figure out vray very much yet. So here's some more progress... And a test with shitty lighting (not using vray) And yes Im aware of the carpet It will be worked on.. Enough work for today tho. Quote
PhilipK Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 Ty. I came up with a cool idea while taking a shit. Im gonna make a worn "20 years after" version as well. With broken shit and rust etc everywhere. So one clean and one worn version Quote
