Vilham Posted May 31, 2018 Report Posted May 31, 2018 Nice work HP, any explanation of what kind of mechanics there are? Quote
blackdog Posted May 31, 2018 Report Posted May 31, 2018 Said it on Twitter and can’t say anything else else: just really great and poetic. Looking forward to the actual mechanics Quote
-HP- Posted June 4, 2018 Report Posted June 4, 2018 Oh, thanks for creating a thread man! Really glad and happy you guys like it, I set out to make something that I've never made before, explore some uncharted territory while still staying in a realm where I can still use the know-how being amassed throughout the years, as they use to say: One foot in what you have mastered and understood, and the other in what you are currently exploring and mastering. Europa is a reflection of that. @Vilham I'm not ready to talk about gameplay just yet, I am working on a "vertical slice" right now, and I'm still iterating with a lot of stuff so I don't wanna have to commit to anything I say yet. So yeah, still in very early stages. I had a programmer join me recently to help out with player movement, so things are coming together slowly. What I can say though. Is that, gameplay wise, it is heavily inspired by games like Journey and Abzu. I really believe that's a genre of games that is criminally unexplored. It's a genre that's very meditative and allows for some very special and personal moments, I am hoping to dig into some of that. Thanks guys! Evert, Fnugz, blackdog and 4 others 7 Quote

You should be very proud of what you've achieved thus far. I think we're all rooting for you, please take your time however much you may need. Radu Posted November 20, 2020 Report Posted November 20, 2020 Remembered about this the other day. How's it going? Any updates? blackdog and -HP- 2 Quote
-HP- Posted November 22, 2020 Report Posted November 22, 2020 yo! It's going well albeit a bit slow since it's a part-time venture, I've got a tiny team of guys helping out here and there particularly player locomotion and programming. I am not interested in being one of those indies that posts GIF's every day to gather a following, I find social media very distracting so I'd rather spend my time working on this, then when it's done, it's done.... I'll probably hit the socials a bit harder once it's close to release. That said, we're working to get something released for early 2021, a fully playable slice of the game. I'll share some more as soon as I can. Btw, a little while ago, I released another small teaser, you can check it out here: But here's something just for mapcore! Radu Posted November 22, 2020 Report Posted November 22, 2020 Must have missed that trailer, but early 2021 sounds promising! Good to hear you also got some extra hands to help with it. Lizard, Zarsky and -HP- 3 Quote
blackdog Posted November 23, 2020 Report Posted November 23, 2020 I was thinking of this as well but was confident we'd get something when ready. With all that's been going on I was wondering if you had the chance to still chip away at this project. On 11/22/2020 at 1:47 AM, ┌HP┘ said: But here's something just for mapcore! I was going to compliment the screenshot first, but you really don't like to be tagged in posts lol Wow is that all 3D? it looks like a painting... and I notice the aesthetics is much less saturated. You changed art direction? Quote
-HP- Posted November 23, 2020 Report Posted November 23, 2020 Thanks for the confidence! This project means a lot to me, so it'll get done. That's all 3D yeah, including the backdrop elements like Jupiter. I haven't touched the post process parameters in a while, so it's the same as the old footage. But I can see how the colder atmosphere tints everything of blue and it naturally mutes the colors a little bit. I might tweak it a little bit later, this level is special as you mostly fly above the clouds, so blue and white should be the primary values. Should symbolize hope and ascension. blackdog 1 Quote
ThunderKeil Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 The new screenshot looks worlds apart from the footage from 2018, like blackdog said, very painting-like. Did you make big changes visually or is it just the editor making it look a bit different? The teaser still leans more toward the same style as the previous video Honestly it could just be the grain that's making me view it very differently . . There's something about ''low noise + no outline'' visuals that kind of make my eyes itch, it's not that I dislike the way it looks, but more like my vision can't rest because there's no hard details to auto-focus on. It's something I think I first really experienced with BOTW, although that was definitely not the first game to use the style Well, that might just be me. Game looks great either way, looking forward to seeing how it turns out Quote
Buddy Posted November 24, 2020 Report Posted November 24, 2020 Wow this thread is so old already! We're all heading towards death at an alarming rate. blackdog, dux and Zarsky 1 1 1 Quote
