goss343 Posted May 29, 2018 Report Posted May 29, 2018 I started making this map a couple months ago, and finally finished it. It looks a lot different than a typical rustic CSGO map and I wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on the map! It's still a minor work in progress but it's still very playable! I uploaded a sample of some screenshots from the workshop page. Enjoy! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1397342061 SultanRankin, Binary, SirK and 2 others 5 Quote
NikiOo Posted May 30, 2018 Report Posted May 30, 2018 It's very indoor-ish. Could definitely benefit from some windows and maybe even an outdoors area. Like, some more natural light. Otherwise it looks very dead. It doesn't look like a place that would be inhabited by people. It looks like a modernistic asylum. I would love to be able to look out the windows and see a nice plain field, or a forest. And maybe skylights too. So you can see the moon. It's just depressing. But maybe you already an outside area and you are deliberately not showing it in any of the screenshots, then it's my fault for being too lazy to download it and see for myself. Quote
RA7 Posted May 30, 2018 Report Posted May 30, 2018 Not bad, but i think you need to work on your texture skills.....its very......blanco... Quote
jakuza Posted May 30, 2018 Report Posted May 30, 2018 Great work so far. I'm struggling with a kind of clean environment as well right now, so here's what I'd recommend. Since you are aiming for the ME aesthetic, I would look into how those games bring wear and tear into the environment without defeating the clean and colorful aesthetic. Also, using more tiles will allow you to communicate a material better. You have detail in your normal maps already, but it's important for that detail to have context and structure as well. blackdog Posted May 30, 2018 Report Posted May 30, 2018 It's very de_seasons reminiscent. Color scheme and theme. Congrats, good effort, but I think to get the most you can still polish some aspects, as mentioned above texture: just because is minimal and modern doesn't mean there shouldn't be tiles on the floor or ceilings, looks very artificial, in a negative way. The other big thing that jumps to the eye is the crates seem out of place, they are indoor in these very clean facility, and I don't see a loading bay, big door to let them through, etc. There are no other props it seems, like a good idea would be to corner off a corner/side of a room with a mopping left unfinished in the rush of abandoning the place. Some papers on the floor... doesn't seem there's a reception or any real office. There's not enough that sticks out so that players can refer to that and call out to inform teammates. You want to keep that in mind for the future in other maps Lastly might be just me but the black floor feels like a void/black hole, it merges with the wall trim... I think it could benefit with some low level floor. And speaking of lighting, is very omogeneous, the look would benefit by adding some lamps on desk/tables, little corners, etc. Quote
