kleinluka Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 the arrogant slogan breaks it for me... visually nice tho. i'd keep the border. Quote
Vinny Testaverde Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 yea the arrogant thing is changin, its funny, but not the image i want.. anyways... update... Quote
mikezilla Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 i like the new one however, just give up on the borders. It's striking when its just simple and elegant. The borders are meaningless noise. Also SO glad the haiku was gone. I literally would have passed you up in the hiring process if I'd have seen that. Quote
Zacker Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Looks very good, especially with borders:) Yep, the haiku for sure had to go. Having some kind of wise quote is not bad, it just has to be the right one. Quote
Evert Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 keep it on a grey/yellow background, not too bright without borders. Maybe a 1 or 2 pixels not too obvious border. Quote
Kosmo Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Nice design, how it works with different resolutions/browsers/platforms? It comes to me as a pretty heavy on the bling bling, and I like my things minimal. You don't have any subtle piece on your site, everything feels like too heavy and carved with meaning so people might get confused with the site. How about the technical side? What is being used? Full CSS or tables? Seems pretty hard to update, but that is your problem so the end user don't care, but you might not want to make small updates because of all the hard work it requires and updates are less frequent. I like the harmony of the colors, brings some breath of fresh air, but it is taken down by the book in the middle which seems too heavy and unintended for some reason. I hope that helps, great design. Quote
Lee3dee Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 i like it with without the border. I didn't like the Haiku, because it was an indirect way of saying "please Hire me" . I like the no border because its simple and elegant. If your going to use chinese/japanese symbols did you first check and see what they mean, just incase a HR can read them . Quote
Vinny Testaverde Posted May 6, 2005 Author Report Posted May 6, 2005 Despite the majority advice I got here from people who's opinions I respect, I went with the borders... http://jonmdesign.net/newsite/ check it out Quote
|FRITZ| Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Im not a big fan of the haiku, it should be something like~ "It takes lots of time and effort" or something. not stuff imho. Quote
FrieChamp Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Fantastic website, I dig the "drag corners to turn pages" feature. But for the love of god, get rid of that haiku! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 i love it although i think you should lose the music (music on websites is hugely annoying) and make a better haiku the "and stuff" in it doesnt make you sound very creative. The drag corners feature looks very nice . Ive seen it on other websites where it rather felt like an annoying feature, but on your's it worked out very good Quote
Squad Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 With one border Yeh, I'd like to see a version with one border. Care to make one and post it here so we can see it? Quote
