Phoxxy Posted February 21, 2018 Report Posted February 21, 2018 (edited) Hey everyone! New here, first time poster. I've been mapping with Hammer for a good few years now my first project being a small fight yard style map on Counter-Strike: Source, I then moved over to working on a campaign for Left 4 Dead but that project never got finished. I Figured I'd show off my furthest along CS:GO Project. I can't really take any credit for the design though being that it's just an updated version of a pre-existing map. But eh, I decided to use this project as a spring board to get me familiar with mapping on CS:GO. Many of you will recognize this map from Condition Zero or perhaps the rare Xbox version of Counter-Strike from years ago. More map images here! ===> https://imgur.com/a/N2TQp The overall layout has been finished all that remains to do on the map is more detailed polishing (adding more Props, decals ect.) adding sound scapes, finishing up some place holder building details located outside and giving the map an optimization pass. I have however stopped working on this project due to lack of interest from the community. I would love to move onto a new project but this one being unfinished doesn't sit well with me. I'd also love to have someone with experience to turn to with mapping questions as I tend to have quite afew area's I'd like to improve on. Anyway I hope you all enjoy looking over my work! A playable version of this map can be found on the steam workshop! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=398100694 Edited February 21, 2018 by Phoxxy Quote
F0cu5 Posted February 21, 2018 Report Posted February 21, 2018 I was just reading about this effort a few weeks ago because I was working on gathering all the maps uncovered in the Condition Zero leak, which includes cs_miami. I haven't tried yours, yet. I think the main reason you're seeing a soft amount of interest is because hostage rescue is barely played in CSGO. It's actually astonishing how unpopular the mode is compared to in prior CS games. Quote
Phoxxy Posted February 21, 2018 Author Report Posted February 21, 2018 It's not a very competitive viable game type and that's all the rage these days so it makes sense, though I suppose it is possible to change that through unique level design. Who knows maybe it will be viable someday Shame that you never came across my map in your search, Though I suppose it would come off as a nicer map had it been finished. I have actually added a bit more detail and minor layout changes in my unreleased version of the map. Still unsure when I wanna upload an update though. I feel like it really shows that my mapping skills are still fairly grounded in CS:S style map design. Low detail and somewhat plain. Quote
F0cu5 Posted February 21, 2018 Report Posted February 21, 2018 Sorry if I was unclear - I meant that I found your map ("this effort") when I was reading about the unreleased/leaked Condition Zero version. You and another person both have versions of cs_miami on the CSGO workshop, although I haven't tried either yet. I myself am a former 1.6/CZ mapper who is getting back into mapping for that engine after a long time away. I'm releasing some stuff for GoldSrc to get back into the swing of things and then planning on transitioning to the source engine finally with CSGO. One thing I want to explore is making hostage rescue a viable gametype. I think Valve already made a great move by requiring the CT team to only rescue 1 hostage, which mirrors the T need to only destroy 1 bombsite. Now it's up to us mappers to figure out how to make this work. Quote
