Pizza Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 (edited) So this is my first attempt at making a map for CS:GO, looking for feedback any feedback especially on layout adjustments, I think I've got a pretty good grasp on the theme I'm going for at this point. Workshop Link More screenshots here. Edited January 18, 2018 by Pizza Furiosa, GrillusRetardus, jd40 and 12 others 14 1 Quote

NikiOo Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Pretty good architecture, although I'm not a fan of that fence splitting the room in 2. Quote

Freaky_Banana Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 I love the visuals! But I feel it's hard to judge a rather interconnected and multilayered layout like this just by lots of (very nice) screenshots. Is there a workshop link by any chance? Thanks in advance and best of luck with this one! Quote
GrillusRetardus Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 Now... What kind of black magic did you use for the ceiling in the curvy tunnel? Surely you must have previous experience with source to be able to pull that off! Really impressive! Quote

Here is a shot of the brushes those are constructed out of: For them I just made an arch that I was pleased with, rotated it 45 and 90 degrees, lined them up and then meticulously crafted these heptahedrons, then just a whole lotta copy+paste. leplubodeslapin, GrillusRetardus, Freaky_Banana and 1 other 3 1 Quote
blackdog Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Impressive, but shouldn’t it be bad for performance? Quote

They're all func_details so no issues with vvis using them thus far, I do however think they'll eventually be too difficult to work with when I get to the point I try applying textures to them, I'll probably replace them with prop_statics at that stage. blackdog 1 Quote
Pizza Posted February 14, 2018 Author Report Posted February 14, 2018 Pushed out an update in advance of some play testing today (imgur album), it includes various layout changes based on initial feedback from the first session of playtesting. My favorite change however is how much better the arches look with proper smoothing: Mid is still a bit big and open though... still working on it... SirK, Squad, Roald and 5 others 8 Quote
Pizza Posted March 1, 2018 Author Report Posted March 1, 2018 I've been splitting my time for the past week between working on the layout and learning 3ds Max and Substance Painter which has enabled me to create my first asset for the map: CuervoSp, NikiOo, JSadones and 17 others 18 2 Quote
