El Moroes Posted July 5, 2017 Report Posted July 5, 2017 Hi guys, I don't know if you know this artist : Simon Stålenhag (but I'm sure you know him). He just released his third kickstarter : As I already said, I'm a big fan of what he's doing, that's why I share that with you ! You'll find a lot of good inspiration there in his work I hope I'll see a game based on his universe one day ! Some examples of what he's doing: PS : I posted it here in the "2D" topic and not in the "off topic". Move it if it's necessary grapen, jd40, Mark C. and 12 others 14 1 Quote
JSadones Posted July 5, 2017 Report Posted July 5, 2017 Been following him on Twitter for a few months now, really liking his art as well. Still doubting if I should help kickstart it, it's around €40-45 here for the hardcover book. His two previous artbooks are around €42 each on Amazon. Decisions Quote
blackdog Posted July 5, 2017 Report Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) Looks dope! A game in this setting would be sick! We should hurry and buy the rights (Also a movie would be sick - especially if by Villeneuve) Is that all illustrated from scratch or is he using some base for like cars? I've deffo seen some of his work and probably saved for reference. I remember the mecha stuff. Need to look and see if his books are affordable. -HP- Posted July 9, 2017 Report Posted July 9, 2017 Helped him on his previous kickstarters, and own both his books. I'm a huge fan of the way he uses lighting to convey emotion and a sense of uniqueness. Some of his work looks incredibly coozy, yet epic in scale, still baffled on how he manages to do that. Would love if he got involved in either a major motion picture or a video game. There's a lot of people trying to do fan art in his style, but falling pretty flat. Evert Posted July 10, 2017 Report Posted July 10, 2017 Love this guy. Funny thing, I grew up in the same area as Simon in the countryside, and a bunch of the content in the first book has a load of details from my childhood. Like even the numbers on bus signs are the same as the on the bus I took to school =). Makes me super nostalgic. -HP- and El Moroes 2 Quote
BJA Posted July 10, 2017 Report Posted July 10, 2017 Yeah, pretty amazing and unique art style. Would love to see a full game/movie coming out of this. Something like this: Quote

Yes! This is exactly what I felt seeing this for the first time. It's the same feeling I get when looking at Studio Ghibli's work, though the scale of things are grander here. Cozy and eerily familiar. -HP- 1 Quote
blackdog Posted April 15, 2018 Report Posted April 15, 2018 Looks like the golden boys of Marvel, the Russo brothers (Captain America Civil War, Winter Soldier, Infinity War) have picked up the rights to the Stalenhag novel! Vaya, Minos, -HP- and 3 others 5 1 Quote

This is pretty cool, always nice to see an artist get their due in the “mainstream”. A film of visuals inspired by his work could definitely be striking to look at -HP-, Pivac and Vaya 3 Quote
blackdog Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 Another success for Simon, as another novel is going to be adapted into a TV show by Amazon! Considering they have produced some pretty high quality TV shows it is something to look forward positively https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/amazon-tales-from-the-loop-1202875431/ El Moroes 1 Quote
FMPONE Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Might be the first Amazon show I watch. Good for them. Quote
blackdog Posted July 30, 2018 Report Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) OT: @FMPONE you should give a try at series like Sneaky Pete, Mr Robot, Startup and The Man in the High Castle. All Amazon Originals. Also coming in August is Jack Ryan, I posted the trailer on a dedicated topic Edited August 1, 2018 by blackdog FMPONE 1 Quote
