D3ads Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 (edited) Holee sheet... I did not expect to see another Metro game ever again given that Last Light came out in 2013.. but I was pleasently surprised to be wrong... Metro Exodus is here! http://store.steampowered.com/app/412020/Metro_Exodus/ Quote The year is 2036. A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created. Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter. Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet. Here's the reveal trailer, it's scripted as fuck but it looks and feels epic. Apparently the game wont be fully open world but it will allow for more open environments where players can explore much more freely... Four years in the making and no release until 2018, I'm expecting a masterpiece. Smart idea to move out of Moscow, I wonder which cities we'll see.. St Petersburg perhaps. I just hope there is enough air supply to explore places properly, I hated having to sprint everywhere in previous games to try and see everything before the filters ran out... ElectroSheep Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Waiting for that one too. This E3 is full of surprise on my side. Quote
grapen Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 I liked the first games enough to do all achievements on ranger diffi. I never do that for other games. This is super high on my list as I'm craving a linear FPS with a super immersive story and environment. -HP- 1 Quote
blackdog Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Well @D3ads, in the video he takes the mask off when he gets out of the tunnel, so I think that means the air cleared up and there won't be that restriction anymore. The lighting and colours suggest that as well. If I recall that limitation wasn't because of the story but also due to technical difficulties as the engine was pushed to render as much as possible inside areas Quote

I'm a bit of a lore knob, but the reason Artyom could unmask outside was because he seems to be far outside of Moscow where the bombs would have ignored, few sections in the games and books beforehand mention parts where that was the case, mainly a settlement created in the outskirts of Moscow by a tank crew and some people they came across, they were fine out there until the monsters got them. Aside from that, I do hope that the new game finally features Sasha and Homer, both played parts in the two latest books. would be a shame to omit them. Quote

-HP- Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 Good, there's enough of those around. I love me a linear game. HL2 is linear and it's a cult hit. Radu and D3ads 2 Quote
dux Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 I'm sick of open world. Give me linear well crafted any day. r1ar, Vilham, Radu and 1 other 4 Quote
Zarsky Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 Agreed, a more linear game with sanbox areas like eg. crysis is a prefect solution. I don't have time to roam around huge worlds. blackdog 1 Quote
ElectroSheep Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 But you can't sell horse helmet in those kind of games !! 2/10 Quote

grapen Posted June 23, 2017 Report Posted June 23, 2017 The way I see it, games should accomodate to their story and setting. Metro 2033 as an open world would have been absolute ass. They would never be able to sell me the idea that a young man without military traing would aimlessly roam radioactive streets and catacombs, filled with mutated and aggressive bears, gorillas, flying demon things, militant extremists snd natural anomalies, just to do what exactly? Find a couple of extra military grade rounds? The story and pacing of it was great in the first game, I hope they don't change their formula. Zarsky and Radu 2 Quote

Radu Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 More details about the game have been revealed in this gameinformer article: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2018/02/07/10-bold-changes-exodus-is-making-to-metro.aspx? Some of those things sound pretty good on paper and I hope they play out well. Definitely feel like they're going for something closer to S.T.A.L.K.E.R's world design this time around, just more enclosed. Zarsky 1 Quote
