The title says it all really. I recently played Downfall and it felt so good to hold the crowbar again. Not only that, but Downfall is really great as well. It rekindled my love for Half-Life and now I want more. I tried Googling but there's so much out there and I have a very specific taste. In short, I'm only interested in singleplayer add ons that look and feel like they could have been a real Half-Life 2 episode. I don't care for total conversions or experimental games. I want my Half-Life 2 fix, pure and simple. I've now started Mission Improbable (what a looker) and I wonder if any of you have some suggestions for me that fit my criteria?

Thanks in advance!

PS: Also, I'm still amazed at how good Source actually looks and what these guys manage to get out of it. Sure, you can see the engine is dated at certain points, but Source always had this particular look that still feels fresh and convincing today. I never could quite put my finger on what that is though. Besides that, I completely forgot how solid the gameplay is (it's been years since I last played) and it still holds up today.

You've probably already played it because it's ooooold, but Minerva definitely deserves a mention whenever SP HL2 mods are concerned!

Is that the one where you start on a island? Because I know it's well received but it felt less like Half-Life 2 to me. But maybe I should give it another try. Thank you!

I like your post, you have the same taste/interest :)

I agree that Downfall is really faithful to Valve's vision. Marnamai has made another map about crossing a motorway(?) that looks great aboutbut I haven't played. Check his portfolio ;)

Minerva is really good, I am going to replay it as I never finished it (wasn't fully released at the time), agree that it doesn't feel as HL as other mods.

Can i sound my own horn and promote Riot Act, the mod I collaborated on. Features a new character but I don't think that hampers the experience, as the objective was to keep it as HL2 as possible, and create a spin-off that would coexist aside Gordon's quest. It is a bit old so doesn't feature graphics from Ep2.

I forgot to mention, thanks to RunThinkShootLive I discovered Jason Gimba, he participated in numerous contests run there. Any of his maps are worth playing: very truthful to Valve's production, and impressively high quality, you would never think they were created in such short spans of time.

I think is worth mentioning a production that was posted here (I also playtedted it): Transmission Element [number]. It's a mod with a modified GGun and uses light/dark in an interesting way. Deffo not pure HL2 but a very high quality map with some great game bubbles… when I recently watched 24 Legacy I thought someone in the production team had played this map because one of the first action sequences is pretty much identical to the first big fight sequence in the game.
