It's happening! Gunfire Games, which mostly consists out of ex-Vigil employees, is working on Darksiders 3. More below:

  • Play as FURY – a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth!
  • Harness FURY’s magic to unleash her various forms – each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities
  • Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story
  • Defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their servants who range from mystical creatures to degenerated beings
  • Darksiders signature art style – expansive post-apocalyptic environments that take the player from the heights of heaven to the depths of hell, dilapidated by war and decay and overrun by nature

There was another discount sale on the old games a few days ago, was tempted but didn't cave because of the back catalog.

It's also that I wasn't convinced when they came out, then a friend spoke very well about them.

This series was an interesting take on the "Zelda" formula, I remember being very impressed by their dungeon design in the second game and really enjoyed exploring their world. But I played this right before Witcher 3 was released so it was quickly overshadowed. Will have to go back to it at some point.

Playing as a magic focused character sounds like a fresh new take on the series formula, and I'd imagine that would allow them to be very creative with their gameplay mechanics. I'm pretty excited!

Yeah, like @Radu says… I mean I don't dislike chains-whips, but as the main and only weapon shown seems very weak.

I'm in hope for some dagger or whatever short blade, and some hand to hand and kicks combat. The way she moves is a lot like Catwoman, and in The Arkham-verse, despite the little you can play the character, she has throwables and the whip can pull someone off their feet. Being this a cutting chain I would love to see her being able to partially dismember a big enemy, like that sort of crab could easily be taken down by taking the legs off before a finishing move.

Also in terms of movement I'd like to see wall-walking.

At the moment is all so very basic, seems to borrow ideas from Prince of Persia The Two Thrones and Catwoman, but coming short compared to both… I mean not even a special "magic" attack? :? (If there is apologies, I had to skip a bit but as she doesn't seem to use any with the boss…)

Hope is just too early to judge (just concerned cos in the last few years all this "alpha gameplay" we saw seemed very final).
