Hi, i'm a new mapper from finland, i have never made actually finished map so my skills are not too good.

I started 3 months ago mapping and have made constant progress after it.

I'm here to get help in my mapping "journey" and I might be participating in the mapcore contest (Who knows :)).

Hey guys!

My name is Tune and I'm from USA. I often went by a few online aliases like "Prototstar", "Naamtune", and most recently, "CannedTuna".

I started my venture in to game modding and dev back in the early 2000s, beginning with the fun map editor for Age of Empires, designing fun story-based missions for my younger sisters to play with.

Around mid-2000s I ventured in to level design for Half Life Sven Coop mod, making linear levels for my friends and I to gun blaze through on the weekends. As time went on I migrated over to Source Engine, acquiring new skillset in designing texture along the way. For Source, I was designing maps such as a recreation of COD Modern Warfare's multiplayer map, Vacant, for CSS.

As I was getting more confident in my skills I began to volunteer to work for different modding teams. Some of those mods I've worked on were Operation Black Mesa and World War 1 Source as level designer and environmental artist. Outside of releasing levels, I had also published several free texture assets on FPSBanana for Goldsrc and Source.

After graduating from highschool in 2011, I disappeared off the radar for a long period of time. I found a career working in IT for aerospace manufacturing company, spearheading numerous business projects, overseeing the west coast infrastructure, and helping out with business acquisitions. During this time I was monitoring the game dev scene and saw the industry booming rapidly and tech was progressing quite fast that it felt overwhelming to keep up with. Nonetheless, this hiatus period was a time period where I began to stabilize myself emotionally and financially.

Last year was a slow venture back in to game development. I began creating custom assets for Cities Skylines after being fed up with lack of decent industrial buildings. This involved learning an unfamiliar workflow and new tools like Maya and Substance along the way.

Recently I was brought into a new studio as one of the business partner to help with a development of an untitled indie game, to assist with forming the studio backend, and oversee the studio operation.

So hello, everyone!

Hi, my name is sn0wsh00. I'm not a particularly active mapper, but I've still created a few CS:GO maps, which you can see here.

I've discovered this website while playing a bunch of custom CS:GO maps, noticing that this website seems to be popular with the CS:GO crowd. I decided to create an account here given that I had been toiling away for weeks on an obstacle course map with round-to-round variations without anything to show for up to that point. Mapcore seems like a great place to share your WIP maps to the public.

Hey, my name's ThunderKeil, or just thunder for short. That's keil as in Donnerkeil, the german for thunderbolt. If you're wondering, yes, a german friend has since told me that's not the commonly used translation, but alas. So, yea, waaaaaaaay back when I first got into PC gaming I needed a name, and I picked thunderbolt, because that's what people of 12 or so years old do. Well, that name was already in use, as you can imagine, so I went with the german version of it. In the next game I played the german one was already taken, too, so I did the obvious and mixed them up. It's . . . good enough, at least kinda unique as far as such things go.

I've been on GameBanana since about 2013 or so, pretty much as long as I've played tf2 - so if any of you recognize me it's probably from there. Kinda stopped visiting about a year ago, most of the main page is sonic or some flavour of the week thing these days anyway. God knows why sonic modding suddenly flared up in the current decade (or just the end of the previous one, I suppose) but hey I'm getting off topic again.

So, maps huh. Well, made a lot of those, published about . . . four and a half? I'll be frank, finishing projects has not been my forté. Guess I'm kinda shit at estimating workload, keeping myself focused on one thing, setting priorities, uhh, etc. You might'a guessed it by my long ass story already but yea I got some adhd going on here, so if you ever check out one of my projects prepare for either a chinese wall worth of text or absolutely nothing.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll continue to make maps, I think - mostly - I'm just hoping to eventually make one nice enough thing so as I can say yea look at that I'm done, I've finished hammer, this is ok now and I can leave.

Well, that's the dream, anyway.

Greetings,

I am iG4MER, aka MUHNAYSHOT, aka [MERC]G4MER on Steam. I have been a long time level designer map builder and helped with the Snark Pit back in the day, ejoop, and many lost or forgotten sites. Good to find a site/resource for our dedicated group of designers. Currently I have 4 maps on my Steam account.. But have many many many others I have never posted to any place other than the Snark Pit, that are all lost since it went down...  many maybe on a back up drive someplace. LOL.. Look forward to seeing every ones work, and sharing mine as well.

Hi, I am Anarchy. New CSGO mapper but its not the first time I am making mods for games. I used to make simple mods for GTA4, before that there was an old fps game (its dead) that had a map editor, Far cry had map editor so messed around it that, I tried Hammer editor before but GTA had taken most of my time and I didn't finish any map in Hammer. Recently finished my first CSGO map which is a rookie level for the standard, but a good learning session I guess. You can check it out here I am a indie game dev making my first game, a graphic designer and was making 2D assets for mobile games and websites of Green Gold Animation/Tigris. Oh and also very well experienced with 3D model topology and modelling tools in Blender3D...texturing: not so much.

    • [CS:GO] Shore
One of the projects I worked on after I made de_austria.

Yeah, I know the timing is really bad (CS2!), but can't change it... 🙁

In general a lot went wrong during this project. Had a lot of problems with the layout, but I think I found a good compromise in the end. Also learned many new things. Maybe I would even be ready to create a really good map now after all, but I think that it's gonna be the final one. I really like making maps, but it has become too time consuming over the years for just being a hobby. Unfortunately I never managed to get a job in the games industry. So that's it. I hope it's a worthy ending of 20 years of making maps for me. 🙂

Shore is a bomb defusal map for CS:GO that takes place on Lofoten Islands, Norway. (Also have a Hostage version of this that works well imo)

I took some inspiration from this place in Norway:
