maladus Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 I posted this over on the New World official forums, but decided to post it here too because Mapcore would possibly have more traffic. Anyway, I am wanting to start planning a Day of Infamy map, but the documentation for various things (specifically game modes and how to set them up) seems to be lacking and I am not sure where to look for this information. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Further, I apologize if this is not posted in the proper forum. I was not 100% positive where it should go. Vaya 1 Quote
Radu Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 You can find the appropriate hammer version inside \Steam\SteamApps\common\dayofinfamy\bin. As for documentation, if you navigate to \Steam\SteamApps\common\dayofinfamy\sdk_content\maps\example you will find a series of vmf and txt files with examples on how to set up the main modes. Aside from that, there isn't really any documentation available. I suggest you take a look at official maps to get an idea on timings and overall scale of the levels. Moran Le Touze 1 Quote
poLemin Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 As far as I know, almost nothing is documented properly. There are some example maps within the SDK folder however, that could provide you with some help. Unfortunately you have to do some reverse engineering to see what's really going on. During the last contest there was a lot of discussion about how to set things up and stuff like that. Could be useful too since people tend to run into similar problems. Radu 1 Quote
Vaya Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 best idea is to join the DOI/Insurgency modding discord and ask required questions there. Most of it is not clear at all. Expect to lose braincells/will to live. https://discord.gg/VU48VNe Radu, ashton93 and poLemin 3 Quote
