What's your 2016 GOTY?

Overwatch, no contest. Put tons of time into it, had a lot of fun. Haven't played CSGO since it came out, which is a good thing. :P

Second place: Picross 3D: Round 2 on 3DS.

Dark Souls 3 actually really disappointed me. It's hard to articulate, but it just wasn't nearly as satisfying to explore and learn the world as Dark Souls 1 was, and to a much lesser extent Dark Souls 2. I don't know why they abandoned the interlocking "puzzle box" level design of DS1, but I sorely missed it. The game was alright for what it was, but it was missing that spark.

Titanfall 2: The single player campaign was rife with comedy (BT) and had one of the best seamless transitions ever in video games between timelines (if you have played this level, you know what I mean). Furthermore, the variety of encounters, ranging from titans to a soldier with a completely disabled titan, and near death experience were awesome. Add onto this a compelling multiplayer that can be both fast paced and slow - with weapons relatively well balanced (hello silenced automatic pistol and grappling hook of doom!) and high-flying navigation that addresses both horizontal and vertical level design types. This was my personal favorite game of the year.

Not all that sure myself, lot of critically acclaimed games came out this year except most of them never kept my attention.

Only game that kept me coming back was metro redux but that's two years old so I can't really count it.

I suppose a tie of B1 and Doom will do for me.

Just watched the noclip Youtube documentary on the making of Doom, so I'm bumping that up to my number 2 slot, over Picross 3d. The details on the creative process, especially for the writing and music, is the best I've ever heard from game developers as far as thought out, intelligent designs.

I'm all in on Doom 2016 any day.

It's the first game for a very long time that I instantly felt like I wanted to play it again. I still mourn that they're not going to make more single-player experiences such as DLC.

Unfortunately I played very little :(

Can only mention Doom from this year that I would award.

Probably Hitman deserves a mention for the courage taken in the publishing approach and post-release engagement.

For Indies I played SuperHot for rich I was incredibly hyped and didn't disappoint, hooking me for a while (but I was expecting to get back to it more).

Still have to play Inside and Firewatch.
