Sprony Posted March 3, 2017 Author Report Posted March 3, 2017 If the activity in this thread on the day or the Switch's release is any indicator, Nintendo is in trouble. Me, I'm going crazy because my Eurogamer colleagues keep praising Zelda as if it's God's gift to gaming. Quote
Mazy Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 Hmm yeah Sprony. I was at a store before it opened to pick up Zelda and 1-2 Switch (didn't order games with the console). I got there 30 minutes early and expected a small line, but I was the first one there. By the time the store opened there were perhaps 7-8 people waiting, but much to my surprise it was only me and another guy that were there for the Switch. They also had plenty of Switch consoles on stock, so it isn't even a problem getting one without preordering. Definitely a far cry from the Wii days or my experience of getting a PS4 at launch. Anyway, can't wait to get back home and get into Zelda, haven't been this hyped about a game in ages. Sprony 1 Quote
grapen Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 A colleague told me they're all sold out in Stockholm. Might be due to region distribution though I guess, wouldn't be the first time. Quote
PaulH Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 I do actually really want Zelda. I just don't want this console, or to spend ~£350 for the privilege of playing it. First world problems. blackdog 1 Quote

Especially when I see people saying that it's the best zelda yet. Edited March 3, 2017 by grapen Quote
PaulH Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 Think I might need to borrow someone's Wii U and play it on that Quote
Beck Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 I saw an advert for 1-2-Switch last night and the mini games didn't look great. Stuff like shaking the controller to fizz up a bottle of pop, shaving your face and shit like that. Looked really boring and wouldn't hold anyones attention for more than a couple of minutes. They need stuff like Wii Sports or Wario Ware if they want to make a party game to get everyone around a Switch. I'd love Zelda too. But I think I'll just wait until the Switch is cheaper or take the graphical hit and get it on my Wii-U. Quote

I've heard that actually the game is very similar on Wii U, if not a little bit nicer visually (?) Quote

Just basing by what I saw in this video which came out yesterday. AA and lighting seems a little worse on the Wii-U but still a great looking game really: Quote
Sprony Posted March 3, 2017 Author Report Posted March 3, 2017 In regards to the Wii U version @PaulH and @Beck, the game is basically the same but the frame rate suffers on the Wii U version. Not that it becomes unplayable, but it's noticeable. Quote

I mean I actually like the console and the portability, commuting often it could really be a nice companion. Problem is there will be just a handful of games I'll be interested (never been into Nintendo's stuff). i need to see more, but I'd be more likely to get a PS4 Slim (saw console with one game bundled for less than £200). ics Posted March 4, 2017 Report Posted March 4, 2017 Went ahead and ordered switch + new zelda. Quote
grapen Posted March 4, 2017 Report Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) I've been looking at the Zelda reviews and they reeeally make me want to order a Switch. Then I Googled on what games were coming and.. Yeah, there's literally NOTHING that interests me. And I play a lot of genres. Edited March 5, 2017 by grapen Quote

Many magazines gave it a total 100/100 and later found out that they had just maxed out their score scale and future games were harder to rate. Luckily these days score is not an absolute truth and it's 5/5 or stars or whatnot and not so high numbers anymore. Gives more leeway. Quote
