insta Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Whats psychonauts? Whats a demo? Tell me more about this....psychonauts. Quote
ReNo Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Psychonauts is a cartoony platformer/adventure type thing (or at least thats how it looked to me) that was due for release a long while ago but seemed to have trouble with publishers going down and all that malarky. You play as a psychic kid who is enrolled in some school for psychics or something, and find out other psychic kids are being kidnapped for their powers. As you can tell, I'm no expert on the game, so I'm quite possibly wrong with my assumptions Seemed to garner a fair bit of praise from previews and stuff. Quote
insta Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Ah sweet, an adventure game! The world needs more of those. Quote

Thrik Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 There's plenty of Psychonauts on my site, http://www.razputin.net, if you're interested in learning more about Psychonauts. It's a game that'll definitely appeal to kids, but a lot of the humour works on most levels. Also, the stump joke from Monkey Island returns!! If you're not familiar, in Monkey Island 1 there was a stump in the Melee Island forest. If you examine it, Guybrush said that he could see a crack, which appeared to lead into a system of catacombs. If you tried to use it, this happened: In Monkey Island 3, the joke returned. Inside a crypt quite far into the game, you found a huge crack with tree roots growing out of it. If you tried to use it, this happened: Then, in Grim Fandango, Tim Schafer's last game, there was an underground network of tunnels which you get to walk around in the last year of the game. If you look down a particular tunnel which is all dark and scary, Manny repeats the "system of catacombs" line from Monkey Island 1. And yes, it's back! In Psychonauts demo, go right to the cliff edge in the first area that you get to explore. Near Fred, the janitor, you'll find a tree stump with a grate over it. Examine/use the stump. Yes, the "system of catacombs" line is back! Better to experience it yourself, but if you can't find the stump or just don't have the time: http://www.garry.tv/thrik/stump1.jpg http://www.garry.tv/thrik/stump2.jpg PS: The demo rules. Quote
Mazy Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 haha that was awesome thrk (in mi1 n 3 ) anyway, tbh then i didnt expect that much from psychonauts but the demo has just blown me away, wanting more. I love it when developers have the balls to do something truely wacky instead of just focusing on what sells the most copies~~ mmmmm prrrrrrr~ Quote
ctswin Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 what i like; a demo coming out BEFORE the game, now that's oldskool Quote

FrieChamp Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 How do you swing up that big wall? I can't change the direction I'm swinging to when I'm hanging on one of those poles and keep falling down Quote
