Hey guys. I need to know about how much time do you usually spend by compiling full map and what are your pc spec?

I.E those maps, which a large number of props (agency, zoo, nuke, resort (new nuke ofc) e.t.c)

- Full compile -both -final (slow)

- Fast $light compile (with -StaticPropLighting -StaticPropSampleScale 0.25 and def)

And what's the different between This compile and default valve compile?

Full compile is used for a final version of a map that is going to be published. It deliveres the best quality yet takes the longes time to calculate lighting and so on.

Fast is, as the name says a faster version, yet not to accurate. But in terms of developing your map its good enough.

CompilePal is just an external program or a 3rd party compiling tool with easier configuration of the compiling parameters.

Besides that the time need for compiling your map isnt only effected by its complexity but more over by its level of optimization (skybox, etc...) this over all is a too big topic to be answered in a short way. I suggest reading the articles by @will2k

I steal this topic; I tried to compile now for the first time since forever, and all models are black and the lightning is way off.

I remember that they changed something a while ago, but is there a guide to compiling or something?

I tried that, but now the ground looks blue at some places, like the lightning is really weird.

Have you changed any HDR values of any light entities ?

Nope, went back and checked very old VMF's, and all have the same values.

Also, it takes around 30 minutes to compile, when it used to take 5 minutes, is there a way to shorten the compile time? Waiting 30 minutes to see if one small detail works is tiresome.
