The textures are garbage, I imported the meshes from Maya and I'm more looking for feedback on the design and layout of the map right now. They'll be updated in phase 2.

Working with a small team on this headed by the artist.  Am already seeing some tweaks and changes needed for Phase 2. The ultimate goal will be a floating train station level with warp points and more defense points. All feedback welcome.

Download Link should be updated to newest version of UT - all set for playtesting! According to rumor, .pak maps that were set to Showdown weren't working, so I pak'd this without a gamemode override, and hopefully it works. 

 


The map takes place on a ship in space that cut cut in half and is now mostly destroyed. It plays with the spatial relation between tight, dramatic, tense indoor areas and wide open maneuverable outer-space areas. It was loosely inspired by UT3's Deimos. Areas in space feature (hopefully still balanced) lower gravity, creating some interesting opportunities with wall dodging - also, audio works different depending on whether you're inside the ship or outside. Just for fun. 

EDIT: Given that I'm still exhausted, I haven't had a chance to fly around the map and nab a half dozen or so screenshots. Attached, however, is the picture used in the level thumbnail, which should at least help communicate the theme I'm going for. Time permitting, I'll update this later with more screenshots or a demo video.

ADD:

The main feature of this map is 2 movers that are rotated around the map in the revers directions. That gives quick movement on map. You may always see an enemy on the area and kill him, if you may shoot accurately between the elements of different structures.P.S. Sorry for my English:)

This is my first shot at a FPS map, let alone multiplayer in general. Having some issues with collision as I usually work with level kits, but I'll try to sort it out a bit more during phase 2. Any feedback is welcome!

Hello ! 

We are two designers from France and here is our submission for this contest.
This is our first Unreal map, we designed it and created the blockout within two weeks.

Our intentions were to match the specifities of the team showdown mode by having strategical & tactical elements on top of the basic UT mechanics.

It was a pretty intense but nonetheless enjoyable experience and we're happy to carry on to the next stage.

We aimed for a cirkular arena with a lot of chances to use smart movement and traverse the map, but at the same time use classic Unreal Tournament elements. It is in a lot tighter than other maps but we see it would work for a high adrenline Showdown.

Description:
The goal with the map is to make use of the Slide mechanic in multipleways, one of them being the slides which can be seen in the second picture. The goal with the aesthetic is a tree-top fortress, kind of like the Ewoks in Starwars but instead set in a swampy jungle valley with mountaintops embracing the map. Beneath the fortress there will also be a running river. Another thing we are going for with the aesthetic of the fortress is make-shift treehouse architecture. More to come!
