  • Set some surfaces to unlit material
  • Re-cooked for new game build

Changes to a02: (Updated Sunday, May 1st, 2016)

  • Some geometry additions and flow improvements, around Stinger Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Flak Cannon and Shield Belt.
  • Added some extra ammo pickups.
  • Added extra and balanced health pickup locations.
  • Many material alignments fixed, or at least improved.
  • Low walls around the top of buildings have some additional cutouts for better attack/defense opportunities.
  • Consistent door-frame trims.
  • Some dodge-ramps added.

Update LInk with recompiled map for ut update.

First Time making a map in Ue4 and for a Ut game, i didn't get much time to learn the proper way for making maps in ue4 (i know some basic from Hammer editor for css). i didn't work a lot with the lighting and stuff. Also there is alot free space i will fill up with props and stuff.

This is a smaller map and pretty basic atm. It's subject to change more and more as I get the design more worked out, I'm looking forward to art-ing it since it's a good excuse to improve my sub-standard 3D modelling skills :P  Feedback is appreciated!

I still have to make my AI enemy blots react and move and some other important elements needed done until then I been working on a space temple launch pad, sticking to the color blue, purple, black , and white and little more 3d modeling for the inside temples.

Described respawns (double):

  1. - LOW RANGE - FLAK - CHEST +50health +20vials- TANK/DEF/SUPPORT - big amount of armor and health.
  2. -MEDIUM RANGE - LINKGUN / ROCKET LAUNCHER - THIGHPAD - FIGHTER/ADC.
  3. -LONG RANGE - SHOCK - HELMET - SNIPER - low armor has to play safe or be secured by tank.
  4. -LOW/MEDIUM RANGE - ROCKET LAUNCHER +15health
  5. -LONG RANGE - SNIPE - risky to pickup.
  6. -HYBRIDS - players may secure weapons or items for another player from a team, and make him more versatile.

U-DAMAGE, KEG HEALTH, BELT - central room.

Map preview with my commentary

First of all. thank you guys for such a nice contest! I enjoy creating a map for UT.

It is the second map, I’ve created for this challenge, because I was not satisfied of the first one: the rooms where too small and the map’s shell was like crap. Therefore, before designing a new map, I decided to create some interesting arenas and to combine them after.  

I started to playtest existing maps in UT, looking for some interesting areas. After I had finished, I drew a couple on my own.

Then I jumped right into an editor to build the first one. Then, I added more rooms. I play tested my map with bots after adding each of the rooms. I wanted to playtest it with my friends, but I had some problems with creating a server, hope I’ll manage to install it properly soon.

After I had finished all the rooms and created some interesting paths with the help of lifts, I placed bullets and powerups. The map still needs more ammo locations; I’ll work on this.

I am not sure with the theme of my map right now. Maybe you can help me with some ideas on this topic. For now, I simply marketed the rooms with different color lights to make it easy to remember for the player.

It's been a while since I did a UT specific map so this was a good challenge and with a focused timescale. Been slowly chipping away over the past few weekends with this map. I have some concerns with it and the block-out is rough but hopefully during the next phase I can tidy it up. I added at least once challenge to the player as there are two "airlocks" which drain health slowly but are an alt route and can also spawn the overcharge.
