capone_adam Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Well, deadlines gone but still working on it since my pc died 4 days before deadline which turned my life upside down. The following movie is what I handed in but currently I'm working on the last scene as I wasn't quite able to get it how I wanted. Sorry for the big file...not that good with compression...its about 40MB and 4+min running time. http://www.caponeart.com/low3.avi Heres a shot to give you a idea of what it is you are downloading... All artwork my own, voices by Elvis Deane. Quote
FrieChamp Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 The first scene is awesome, some of the other stuff too, I just wish they were a little longer and in a connecting story. Some background information on the exercise you did this for would be nice as explanation for why you made these scenes like this. Anyway good job! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 awesome i love it . It's very cool to see all that stuff you made in an animation. voices were really good too. The only thing abit disapointing were the pretty crappy enviroments in the end scenes and some smal animation errors. Quote
capone_adam Posted April 8, 2005 Author Report Posted April 8, 2005 Thanks for nice comments, as for crits you have both covered the major flaws well. Ok, so let me explain why there are these flaws, Before the project I wasn't too hot with my interest of creating characters in 3D and so rather than making a small quality finished piece I figured out I would learn more by doing a character again, again and again...forcing myself to explore characters of different shapes and sizes. Everything is random, it was so free (my last chance of such freedom in a project probably) so for once I could get more time to spend on doing more characters rather than use that time tweaking the more unimportant issues such as environments and animation. This also made the project more fun and constantly fresh which kept me working at it. Also, in terms of portfolio and showreel the aim was to have at least 20 QUALITY seconds for showreel which I think there is. Also nice still renders which I definatly have. So yeah, rough but it really needed to be...but now I have this great desire to start working on quality pieces since I have the confidence. Only problem now is that I have been ignoring my other uni modules...so am forced into rushing those unexciting projects for the next 2 months Quote
X-FacToR Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 The art department is spectacular, was really weird, some of the little scenes were kinda short, some funny and some I was like wtf? Quote
Lee3dee Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I agree with X-factor, the art was really good!. and some of the stories were unusual, my favorite environment is definately the Carousel! Thats really a work of art!, would look great on your demo reel! Quote
DaanO Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 "oh no. i'm not staying alone with the creepy doll again" = gold There's some awesome scenes in there, it's all very well done (great art direction indeed) but the thing as a whole just seems to be a bit incoherent. Quote
