D3ads Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Many moons ago before cgskies, cgtextures (now textures.com) had ready made cubemaps for all the skies but now they don't seem to exist, does anyone know if you can still find them or does anyone have them saved and can upload them? If people hook me up with them I will love them forever in a totally not gay way* and be very grateful!Cheers mdears.*Not that there's anything wrong with that! /Seinfeld Edited March 5, 2016 by D3ads Quote
Minos Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 They are all in the paid site now Finding quality 360 skies is so hard, it might be easier to just use terragen for that Quote
D3ads Posted March 5, 2016 Author Report Posted March 5, 2016 I can only see the sphere downloads on there, no cubemaps afaik..Yes it is really hard to find decent cubemaps, I'm just trying to get some good ones for a base to edit since I have no clue about making skyboxes (I can paint them but getting the seams to match up is impossible without something like Terragen as you say). El_Exodus Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 What kind of skybox do you want? I could try my hand at it in ~~1-2 weeks. I'm not a pro in Terragen though. But it's a cool tool to practice. Quote
D3ads Posted March 6, 2016 Author Report Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Well what I wanted was to have some of the skies in cubemap format so I could just edit them so they're not just stock, I was going to use STALKER skyboxes as a guide (I could just use those since it's freeware.. but I'd rather use my own). I can give you a list of the skies on there that you can make into cubemaps if you like or I could just go ahead and edit the existing ones and then you can covert them after? I don't mind either way. Edited March 6, 2016 by D3ads Quote
El_Exodus Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 No idea if just converting them is possible in Terragen. I doubt it tbh. Would need to rebuild using them as reference. I don't know if i'd be able to recreate a skybox 1:1 Quote

Buddy Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 We have a tutorial on converting the panoramas to cubemaps: http://www.cgskies.com/resources_tutorial_transform.php Vaya and D3ads 2 Quote
Hipshot Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Yea, I got shit loads of the skies saved too. Marcel's a really nice guy, I remember when Grin went bankrupt, Marcel gave me a years subscription for my private account.Because I said that when they see me to have logged in from two accounts it's not because I want to download more than I'm allowed to, it's just because I needed to start to use my own account from now on =) I really encourage people to learn how to create their own skies, it's actually really fun. I do understand that it's not a simple process and real photos's are probably what most people wants these days anyway =) D3ads 1 Quote
D3ads Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 I saved one back in 2010, I used it as a placeholder for something but never got the others because I thought I would download them at a later date but then cgskies happened and it was like oh shit.. hah.Gulliver: That would be awesome, I actually have about 10 I wanted to edit.. maybe I should just quickly edit one or two sometime just to show how I wanted to modify them...Buddy: I saw that and it gave me a headache.. lol ,but I'll take a look at Pano2VR and see if I can get the hang of it sometime, I just don't want to be spending days making new skies if I can help it, already using that time for normal textures!
