FMPONE Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Man, to me he really takes this franchise apart. I noticed a lot of these bad habits in the very first game, sad to see it's only continued from there Zarsky, Beck, RivFader and 11 others 14 Quote
-HP- Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Yeah, I could never really get into this franchise either. D3ads, Buddy and Sentura 3 Quote
dux Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Hahahaha 4:35 gave me a good laugh. "Ooohhhhh mahhhhh gawwwwwwwwdddd!!!!!!"But he is right. Uncharted actually makes me consider buying a PS4. D3ads, -HP-, FMPONE and 3 others 6 Quote
blackdog Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 Need to watch it to feel approved of my criticism!11I played only the first one and it really pissed me off. They advertised it as a "Splinter Cell in day time"… I feel stupid for not seeing it.I'm a completionist biatch, I enjoyed more collecting flags than all the rest. Player movement and traversal is nailed, but then lacks on everything else.So boring.I saw Black Flag super-discounted in a recent sale, was thinking of giving that a try, just because maybe with the ships is ---a bit more enjoyable--- not really AC. Sprony Posted March 5, 2016 Report Posted March 5, 2016 I remember seeing the trailer for the first one and really being blown away by it. I got it and then all this scifi crap started. I really, no joke, thought that something went wrong because I missed the intro logo and figured I might have gotten a wrong disc or something. But apparently, it was the game. I played 60 minutes, found it very boring and then combat started because I messed up an assassination due to some fucking peasant getting in the way. I laughed my ass off because 5 guys we're lined up waiting for the others to die so they could take a swing at me. Ridiculous. I turned it off and never looked at the series again. Quote

jackophant Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 I do love me some video game dunkey. Love his skyrim video Fnugz 1 Quote
Beck Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Never seen this guy, seems pretty funny so going to check his channel out.But I agreed with pretty much every point in his video. The AC games are so repetitive it's crazy how they've sold so well. I wanted to like them because I love the history aspect of it and the combat could be fun if the enemies actually attacked me. But it's just the same missions over and over.I'd consider trying Black Flag though since I think it could be a little different and I love pirates. But damn if there's really 40 mins or whatever of following at the start I don't think I'll bother! Quote
Vaya Posted March 7, 2016 Report Posted March 7, 2016 Black Flag was a pretty fun game overall. Still follows the shitty structure above but it has 'drunken sailor' so I think that cancels out. Quote
FMPONE Posted March 7, 2016 Author Report Posted March 7, 2016 Ironically as much as he rips this series to shreds, hopefully the developers can learn from such direct feedback. Only question: can they replace these flawed gameplay decisions with ones that are any better? After such a video I would be surprised to see more of the same, this one really blew up! blackdog Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 I have no hope to see them changing the formula @FMPONE. The game is targeted at teenagers really. I remember the comment of a much younger basketball mate a few years back: "oh Assassin's Creed is too cool, you kill everyone!!" -____-'I just wonder if they'll start having slightly darker and more serious chapters as they're fan base grows older (like we have seen happening with super heroes movies/games).Any case, I think from the story part is so fucked up that I don't think I would ever want to get a game of these again. Vaya Posted March 8, 2016 Report Posted March 8, 2016 The formula is basically a framework for the game now. I'm guessing this cuts right down on initial design time.Far Cry has also been doing the same for the last 3-4 games. I'm guessing it's ubisoft's mantra to get stuff shipped ASAP. Quote
Zarsky Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 This is the major problem with most Ubisoft games. They have amazing art and insane animations, but they rehash the same game mechanics until everyone gets bored. However, there's a glimpse of hope. From what I've gathered, they seem to skip the annual cycle this year and allow more time for design. We just have to wait and see... Quote

But they're still doing the same kind of poor game with a huge amount of useless content you can collect everywhere and repetitive secondary missions.Being a "MMORPG", the division is definitely going to be the same thing. Watch dogs, Far Cry games and The crew also all had the same flaws. They try to make people think their games are deep and that it will take you ages to finish them. Indeed it takes ages, but what's long is definitely not the funny part.Nice video review, even if i liked some stuff in assassin's creed, i played from AC1 to 4...
