blackdog Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 Love the art style they went for.Been waiting for this for a long time. I feel I'm drawn more to this sort of adventure-puzzle in the last years. Quote
marks Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 Been waiting for like 4 years for this game. Lets hope it doesn't turn out to be .... The Shitness. DrywallDreams, blackdog and Sentura 3 Quote
blackdog Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 I just wonder why spending so much time creating your own engine, for a game that has no special tech features, looks like they could have made this in half time with UE/Unity Quote
DrywallDreams Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 I just wonder why spending so much time creating your own engine, for a game that has no special tech features, looks like they could have made this in half time with UE/UnityThis way there's not the issues of licensing, at least. Also Jon Blow seems to suffer a bit from Not Invented Here. It's fair enough, he's a great programmer. Also consider that the game started development before Unity got big and UE4 was out, so there were no cheap engines (save for maybe Torque, but that was also real bad) out there. I'm pretty sure UE3 still had large licensing costs when you sold tons of copies, too. blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 Yeah, he always struck me as that kind of person.Anoter title I've been waiting for a long time, and wanting even more than this is Spy Party! Haven't heard news about that in ages, seems absurd it's still not out. Quote
Mazy Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 http://opencritic.com/game/1557/the-witnessGood shit, can't wait to try it out, think I'm in the perfect mood for something like this right about now.Made the mistake of checking out some video reviews that spoiled some of the puzzles tho however FMPONE and Pampers 2 Quote
FMPONE Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 Very excited myself! I hope I don't have to rely too much on outside FAQs to finish the puzzles Mazy 1 Quote
AlexM Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 I remember some of the articles he wrote about the engine. It had some interesting features for live editing and hot swapping. Ever object file in the game was plaintext and he could reload everything in a second or two. I have no idea how...Game looks really beautiful. I haven't been interested in his previous games but I do want to try this. Quote
blackdog Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) Game looks so beautiful, I'm really curious to explore it. Puzzles didn't convince me too much, i mean they are abstract puzzles, which is not necessarily bad but is the only thing that there is. Seems a bit of a wasted opportunity.PS: OpenCritic?? When did this thing came out??I remember some of the articles he wrote about the engine. It had some interesting features for live editing and hot swapping. Ever object file in the game was plaintext and he could reload everything in a second or two. I have no idea how...Game looks really beautiful. I haven't been interested in his previous games but I do want to try this.Where are the articles? I've subscribed his YT channel but then he flooded it with the game dev language stuff that I couldn't really follow. Even just in terms of time, 1+ hour per video, don't have the time for something I can't work on. Edited January 25, 2016 by blackdog Quote

Well Jonathan Blow is good in making puzzles, it won't be the same all over again but it will build on previous knowledge. It makes me wonder what you would have added Quote
-HP- Posted January 25, 2016 Report Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) I am VERY hyped for this game, not only it looks absolutely incredible and unique it also looks fun as hell. It's also getting a lot of 10/10's. Edited January 25, 2016 by (HP) Quote
