spine Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Well I need some advice here, I know this is not a dirty future metal wall, but it's a future wall anyways. I wanted to have a minimalistic plastic looking wall, but dont no if I got that result... It's not finished, the oval light things needs detailing and I dont really now what i should do to the rest. Something is missing, any ideas? Quote
st0lve Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Looks like that wall inside that "sky city" in Star Wars (when Han becomes frozen)... Quote
Marcos Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Looks too plastic for me. The whole texture needs a more metal look, and more details on the texture aswell (the lamps, door and lightstrip) looks pretty boring. Check out NS2.wad, maybe that could help you out But a good idea. I kinda been missing this kinda textures for NS Quote
spine Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Ok, done some changes, it's not so much plastic anymore, but maybe turned to stone! Guess it looks a bit like metal though (hope). Yes I agree it needs more details, but I wanted it to be minimalistic. I think it's better now... Yeah, sky city, that's kinda the look I was going for... Should I change the light strip completly? Edit: There is no door here by the way... Quote
st0lve Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 The wall does look a little like TDKs textures, Sharpen, Sharpen more, more, more MORE MORE MOREEEE!!1 But it does look better, the "lights" looks pretty strange Quote
kleinluka Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 ummm yeah, first... dont rape the sharpen filter quite as much... second... those circular monitor things with the red and green marks on them look very...cartoony. They are completely black and the colors are fully seturated which sets them apart from the rest of the texture.... Use a gray for the bg, add some neat lighting so it looks like glass, tone down the colors a little and maybe add some glow around the red and green so it looks like, well.. like its glowing (I suppose it is?) the design is cool as it is kinda different from all the other stuff here so far. spine Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Thanx for tips, I have done some changes based on that... I think I am kind of happy with it now, I will do some smal changes to the bottom lights later. They changed colour during my sharpening frenzy! Ok? Quote
kleinluka Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 yeah the monitor things look better now. But dude, the whole sharpen raping destroyed your texture. The edges are all fuzzy! The bottom lights were looking better in the old version. You reduced them down to turqoise and white stripes now Quote
Marcos Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 With some overlays that texture could turn out pretty sweet ingame! Quote
spine Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Hmmm... Some tips I get is, do more sharpening and some say less sharpening!? Well I think I will do just about regular sharpening, like what I do normaly, and that is a bit less than the last texture. And yeah Klein, I fucked up the lights and will se what I can figure out... And what do u mean with "some overlays" Marcos? Thanx for comments... Quote
Marcos Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 You see those shiny and bright monitors and buttons? It's created by overlay textures ~ Quote
kleinluka Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 My advice to you is that you try getting sharp and crisp edges by working cleanly and carefully. Sharpen filter might be helpful to some extend but it screws up the image in numerous ways (adds a ton of unwanted colors if you overdo it, drastically increases black and white values ...etc) Its not really worth it unless you use it in really low and controled doses on a seperate layer. spine Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Thanx for advice Klein, I will have another go and see if I can be more gentle with it. But... You see those shiny and bright monitors and buttons? It's created by overlay textures ~ It might be me who is a little dim here, but do you mean setting the layer to overlay, if so, thats not what I have used, I use airbrush to create the glow effect and shine in the monitors... Do mean it needs more glow and shine maybe? Quote
