ThaWalk3r Posted August 2, 2015 Report Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Hello my name is Miles, I'm from germany and this is my WIP Entry into the Mapcore csgo mapping contest. This map is set in and around a bio-company that secretly develops Biological weapons for the military. this is my first real competitive map and I have been working on it for about 2 months. I know that there is still a lot to do, but i wanted to enter this contest now to get some feedback.feel free to comment and criticiseWorkshop Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=492412560OVERLAY:Ct spawnShort to A:overview AB spotConnector:Middle:T spawn:some more pictures http://imgur.com/a/sHMrq Edited August 2, 2015 by ThaWalk3r Quote
Vaya Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Can I suggest as a first point of call you nodraw everything that can't be seen so you have a more clear radar overview to show. detailing looks good but I would use the white dev walls over the orange ones- easier to work out lighting. ThaWalk3r Posted August 7, 2015 Author Report Posted August 7, 2015 thanks for the feedback sry i didnt see it until now beacause i didnt get a notification. i will hopefully post updated screens today since i will be going to Gamescom tomorrow. Quote
jackophant Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 The map doesn't look like a potential biohazard (possibly because it makes me think of the resident evil games?), but I don't think an area outside like that classes as an "employee lounge" and I don't think they'd have a miniature swamp with aztec statue there.Do you have any reference photos you could show us that you're working from? It feels like a lot of themes mashed together atm.Regarding the layout, it looks very CT sided. Mid looks very easy to lock down, both sites have a very tight frontal entrance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the alternative routes are very easy for CT to hold (which then makes it a bad thing). ThaWalk3r Posted August 7, 2015 Author Report Posted August 7, 2015 from our playtesting the map is actually quite balanced, i guess its hard to say if a map is balanced from a couple of screenshots. the employee lounge is just a placeholder sign, because i was not sure of the setting but wanted to have a sign there. i dont really know about other places but in germany and switzerland its quite common to have pieces of artlike sculptures and ponds in areas to relax.I'm sorry for any typos since english is my 3rd language, and thank you for your feedback. (I am not saying it is not, just want to know how you felt it was played) Quote
ThaWalk3r Posted August 8, 2015 Author Report Posted August 8, 2015 Well not all of my friends have the same skill level we tried to make them as equal as possible but we played 2 games and both were pretty close. Its ofc impossible to say if a map is balanced that way but i will keep working on it as soon as i come back from gamescom. Quote
