Psyrius Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Hello! I'm pretty new to mapping and I'm trying to make these windows in my roof. One side of the window looks good, but the other side is black. What's causing this and how can I fix it? Edited July 25, 2015 by Aerium88 Quote
laminutederire Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 I have the same issue, it appears that when you import a plane, one face is black and the other is textured. If your prop has multiple faces, try to invert faces that are black in hammer (change the normal so that it faces the other way in other words) I don't know if I'm very clear, if not do tell I'll try to be more specific ! Psyrius Posted July 25, 2015 Author Report Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Sorry, I don't know how to do that? Do you mean to just rotate the glass 180 degrees?Btw, the windows/glass and the window frame consist of 2 props. One is just the frame - the other one is the glass - and it is the glass that have this problem. I think it's kind of weird, because I can also see the same issue in the model browser as well. laminutederire Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Have you created it yourself? What modelling software did you use?The glass is just a plane?Sorry, I don't know how to do that? LATTEH Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) Those look like the default roof windows for csgo. typically black models happen when the material is pointing to the wrong texture in the material. edit: sorry i sometimes forget to re-read my posts for errors lol Edited July 25, 2015 by LATTEH kinggambit 1 Quote

And is there a way to fix it? I havn't downloaded any props/textures or anything. I found these windows from the "assault" package if I'm not mistaken. Quote

tomm Posted July 26, 2015 Report Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Model appears to be messed up for me too, so I figured this needed some sherlock holmes investigation. So I opened up the model in HLMV only to see that it's missing materials. hmmm that's interesting, let's check out gcfscape and see what we have there. well.. the much needed materials are gone for whatever reason, seems like someone at valve merged them together and forgot to update the model.. we still have the warehouselightglass_a.vmt though. That material file is looking for warehouseskylightglass.vtf so let's check it out. Yup, this is pretty much what we want. So now I decided to decompile the model and assign it that single warehouselightglass_a.vmt and recompile again. well there we go, case solved!here you can download the fixed version as a temporary solution warehouseSkyLightGlass_01_fixed.zip. Place it inside csgo\models\props\cs_assault.Although keep in mind that you have to pack it inside your bsp otherwise other players will get a massive error model instead.
