von*ferret Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 Inserting my model prop with the shader VertexLitGeneric like almost every prop that i've seen in the .vmt. However when I load it in CS:S the console says this Initializing renderer... Detail prop model models/buildingtop1/buildingtop1.mdl is using vertex-lit materials! It must use unlit materials! von*ferret connected and it shows an "error" model. What am I doing wrong?
Izuno Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 hrmm...never seen that before. so you're saying it loads into the map in Hammer fine and there are no issues in compiling? Are these custom models or default models?
ReNo Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 "Detail prop" you say? If your model is a detail prop it should probably be using some point lighting shader as opposed to vertex lighting. If its a more substantial model (and the name suggests that it is) it shouldn't be a detail prop should it? I've yet to try putting custom models into source, so couldn't tell you for sure.
Pericolos0 Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 try your prop as prop_static. I guess it doesn't work with detail props :s all detail props afaik were unlit (like grass models)
von*ferret Posted March 27, 2005 Author Report Posted March 27, 2005 i'll try prop static, didn't know this stuff was entity dependent. thanks for ideas guys
von*ferret Posted March 27, 2005 Author Report Posted March 27, 2005 ok yeah that definately worked that time. Prop_static > Prop_Detail. Thanks for the suggestion.
Tequila Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 Yeah, if I remember correctly, prop_detail is only used for stuff the engine draws automatically when told to, such as the shrubs that appear for certain grass materials.
