imbuno Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 Hi there! Since there are summer holidays in my country, I and my friend have decided to participate in the mapping competition here. We find it as a good way to create something useful and not spend the whole summer pointlessly at the computer. I have decided to make the layout and props, whereas my friend promised to help with some textures. Backstory of the map:The map is (soon to be was) called backyard because of the initial idea of it being located in a urban area with mulitple yards connected between them. As time went on and the greybox started taking shape, it was clear, that would make no sense for the map. So a more suitable design theme was chosen: the old city. It makes sense as it has streets and pavements as well as some yards and small paths. It also is logical that there are some cafes, shops that could help to sell the visual theme. So it has been decided to base the visual theme on the old town part of Riga as there are small streets and beautiful architecture. As for the map itself, I think the layout is quite finalised. The only debate I had with my friend is whether the map should have a path that leads from Terrorists' middle to B site. We have decided to start looking for visual references for our map. Here is an imgur album of some screenshots as well as the overview:http://imgur.com/a/k0QluThere are only few pictures because all the other places are just grey rectangles ;p.Here is also the workshop link:http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=468152419 Thanks for reading, imbuno Quote
jackophant Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Layout looks like an alright scale and fairly well distributed. Had this playtested yet?The greybox looks nice and crisp too, I want to see progress!Any figures for it? Site and rotation times? Quote
