JKJudgeX
Hi All... About our Project: JK Software is looking to fill a team lead position for mapping associated with project C:AV, a sci-fi persistent world FPS. We are an independent development crew looking to publish a game in the near future, and all team members are working for profit share come that time, though there is possibility for small amounts of compensation for high quality work. Our game has been highly designed and developed, with over 50 original pieces of concept art, 6 completed character models (with multiple skins each), implemented vehicle logic, fully playable netcode, and a server module that supports up to 128 players at once per zone(currently 128, may be extended soon). Our game is integrated with a MySQL database, and the "persistence" part of this database has been completely set up. We are in the process now of linking the code to the database for retrieval of character stats and item stats, as well as developing other game content and weeding out a few small bugs here and there. This game has been several months in the making, and we are ready to begin a community interest front whilst we develop other aspects of the C:AV Universe. We do not have a formal title for the game, but will develop and vote on some soon. This game is intended to be a massively multiplayer game with a plethora of new features in the genre. C:AV is based on a D20 RPG that is as of yet unpublished. Who we need: We need someone willing to devote a considerable amount of time to this project who is capable of developing maps with Hammer or Quark, and is comfortable learning new things and working with a different engine. We hope for this person to take a Lead role... which, to us, means that the person is fully capable of operating as an extension of the game-dev team in that he/she can design new maps, obtain or create textures for said maps, and go from textual specification (And possibly concept art) to completed buildings/levels. We are also interested in people who want to simply take a mapper role and create a few game assets for the project, but we'd prefer to have someone more involved with the project, someone who can identify with design objectives, and give ideas to the team regarding how to improve this game as they develop new content and recruit new team members. As independent developers, all of our staff are donating afternoon hours and parts of weekends to iteratively develop this game, and the results thus far have been quite efficient. The goal of this project for a mapper or other content producer is to generate some works for your portfolio, with the possibility of earning some money as well as a position in the real game industry. What we need from them: We need this person to create several game locations for us. Starship interiors (one very huge one, two medium sized ones), planetary base interiors (one very large one, a couple medium sized ones), several other buildings to be placed on terrain (very small maps, 2 or 3 floors apiece, sometimes just a room or two, with attractive outside walls, etc)... The remainder of what we need is covered elsewhere (Such as in our design document, and one of our concept map layouts)... all of this can be seen at http://cav.judgex.com/ These maps would greatly help our project along, as we've come almost as far as we can without them, and our modellers, sound leads, and programmers are working daily to enhance what we already have... but the missing element of our team is a mapper, who can help us really give our game a unique image and feel. If you are even remotely interested in science fiction and are a mapper, please, e-mail me at judgex@adelphia.net and let me know if you are interested in working on this project. Take a look at our concept art, screenshots, and design documents... and get in touch! We are ALSO recruiting: Lead Community Manager Any Musical Talent Voice Actors/Actresses Sound Effects Specialist Object Modellers (Guns, chairs, boxes, random things, possibly vehicles) Texture Artists (For maps and characters) Though we can supplement our own talents and skills for the ones we are recruiting, we recognize that others who posess more skill in these arenas would add much quality to the final product, so, if you're good at any of that stuff, please, e-mail judgex@adelphia.net

JKJudgeX
Why would someone even bother posting something so pointless, knowing that I'm watching this thread and would have to come back to read flat out spam? Please hold your rude comments for non-serious position offers... I don't think I violated any community values or said anything offensive to mapcore. Thank you. st0lve
I think he is refering to your "We are an independent development crew looking to publish a game in the near future" thing, since he prolly knows a whole lot about creating games and stuff, and that it doesn't get finished in the "near future", but more like "in a decade or something...". Squad
That still doesn't make it a reply that adds something valuable to the topic, but maybe that's just me.

JKJudgeX
Ah, okay.... Well, as far as "near future" is concerned... the only thing between us and an Alpha release of the game is a little bit of content. We want a few more guns in, a decent vehicle, and 2 or 3 locations to explore that aren't stock placeholder art.... Honestly, if we had a mapper on board, that'd be a couple months tops at our current development rate, and from Alpha -> Beta a few more months, and from Beta to Gold, a few more... so, I'm thinking 1-1.5 years, with a playable game and developed community in that timespan, and an actually really good game in 1.5-2 years... Sounds like a long time, but this stuff doesn't happen instantly. Anyway, the plans and such are all there on the website, if you aren't interested... please don't bother posting. I have this topic on watch, and coming here to see senseless stuff is a waste of time neither of us need (you in posting, me in reading). Thanks guys, -JX
